Recording a Voiceover with GarageBand

Open Garageband and select Voice as your New Project type.

Garageband has its own set of sound input/output preferences, so check that Input is AT2020 USB and output is Built-in Output.

Click the Narration Vocal layer and press the red record button.

Make sure the sound bars never turn red. Your voice will be distorted if it hits red and it should only hit orange rarely.

If the mic doesn't work or it is too high, you may need to check your System Preferences.

Go to your System Preferences, Sound input to control the level of your mic and make sure it's coming from AT2020 USB.

You can record on another track, just click the track to record onto it. You should also make the track a Narration Vocal track so that it sounds the same. Click the track and select Narration Vocal on the left

To export your voiceover, select Share > Export Song to Disk...

Name your file and pick AIFF for the best quality and KNOW WHERE YOU ARE PUTTING IT!

Save your Garage Band project also! If you need to make some changes, you'll need this project.

Then go to the server and drag your aiff and your GarageBand file to your audio folder.
