Pixel Art Yourself

1. File New and make the size 64 pixels x 64 pixels and the background transparent. Then zoom in with command+.

2. Find the Pencil Tool by holding down the brush button.

Make your brush 1px in size. Choose a color and draw your pixel art.

To erase and not have aliased edges, set the eraser's mode to pencil.

Create a character or pixel art scene or object.

Post your pixel art to the pixel art forum. Save your jpeg with highest quality for best results.

If you want to trace a photo or scene, do this. But don't just copy an already created character. create your own.

Find or take a picture of yourself and put it on a layer below the layer you are drawing on. Then select the layer and trace your pixel art.

A couple tips: You can adjust the opacity of the layer you are tracing to make it less visible. Also, to keep yourself from accidentally drawing on it, lock it.

Also, turn the visibility of the layer off now and then to check your progress.

Press Command - 1 to look at it actual size.

When you are done make it bigger for posting. go to Image > Image Size and set your image to 640x640. You will see that it blurs it when it enlarges it. Set the Resample to Nearest Neighbor (hard edges) to keep your pixels.

When you're done, save it as a .psd and then as a .jpeg and post your drawing and your picture to the forum.
