If you have ever gathered up old magazines, cut out interesting pictures, and put them together into a collage that's what we are doing today, but with Photoshop.
1. Start by finding images to use. Find at least ten images to use in your collage.
2. Start Photoshop and either click the New button when the first screen shows up or if Ps is already open go to File > New.
3. Click on Document Type and select Film & Video. This should automatically make the size HD (1920x1080) and set everything else what you need for this assignment.
It should look like this:
4. Now that your document is the right size you can drag your images to photoshop and use the erasure tool to cut out parts of the images so you can blend them all together into a new work of art.
Tips: Name your layers!!!
A big soft eraser will create a nice gradient that will blend images together gradually.
Use Command-t to resize and rotate images. Press return when done.
Some other tools to use:
1. Magic Wand. If the background is all one color, you can delete it quickly with the Magic Wand.
Select the tool, click on the background and you will see dancing ants around everything that is the same color.
Unlock the layer and then hit the delete button to delete the background.
Command-d to deselect (get rid of the dancing ants).
Drag the layer to your collage.
2. Change the Opacity of a layer to make it blend with the layers below it.
Select the layer in the layer pallet and then adjust the Opacity slider or enter a number straight in.
Be creative and have fun!
Post this to your website and remember to write about it. At least a paragraph about what the collage is about, what tools you used, and how it went.
