Know the convention, use the convention! Every time!

FirstinitialLastname_Assignment_00#.filetype

Use the first part of your slamfamily email account.

For Example, my email is tonyfarley@slamfamily.com

tonyfarley_song_001.jpg

The title of my work is "song" and this is the first time I saved this project.

That's the _song_ part. The underscores are important.

The first time you save the project is shown by the version number 001. The second time you save, you should increment the number to 002, and so on. If you do this often, you will have multiple copies of your project available should you ever need to backtrack or if something terrible happens to the latest version.

The file type is .jpg. This is the filetype for an image. Different programs will create different file types.

All assignments will have an assignment title that will be told to you by your instructor.

The titles for films and creative projects should be decided by you. For example, if your film was named The Godfather, your title should be farleyt83_the_godfather_001.mov

In Final Cut, name your Projects and Events with the title of the video, not the naming convention. An unnamed project will have "untitled" at the top of your video screaming loudly that you don't know what you are doing. The whole naming convention is TMI at the top of your movie or even in Final Cut.
