When you have all your videos rendered, you are now ready to edit them together into one breakdown shot.
Before you start though, it's best if you clean up your Obiwan folder a bit by putting your renders in a folder.
Create a new folder inside the Obiwan folder called Obiwan Renders and drop all your renders inside this folder.
Find Adobe Premiere Pro CC 2015.app and drag it to your desktop.
Open Premiere Pro and when you get to the welcome screen, click on New Project
Name your new project tonyfarley83_obiwan_001 and be sure it is going to be saved into the Obiwan folder that has all the rest of your files in it.
Click on the Scratch Disks tab and make sure everything there says "Same as Project." This means that everything Premiere does will be saved in the same place you chose on the General tab.
Double-Click in the Project window and go find your Obiwan Renders folder. Select the folder and then click the Import button.
The folder should now be visible in the Project window.
Click the List View button on the bottom left of the Project window to view your video clips as a list.
Open the twirler to see the clips
Double-click the clips to see them in the Clip window.
The Clip window is where you work on clips before you add them to your movie. For all your clips, there is nothing you need to do to them.
Load the Color Correction clip up into the Clip window by double-clicking it.
Then, drag the clip from the clip window to the timeline.
A couple things happen. A new sequence is created in the Project window. This is like a Comp in After Effects, this holds all the layers in the timeline.
Also, the timeline is now visible on the right side in the Program window. You view how your movie is going to look here.
Editing in Premiere Pro
There are a couple keystrokes you need to always use.
J,K, and L are how you rewind, stop, and move forward in a movie. Practice using these three keys until you get the hang of it. You can go faster in either direction by clicking multiple times. Try this as well. It's more useful in a longer movie.
The up and down arrows jump you to the beginning or end of a clip. Try it.
The left and right arrows will move the playhead back or forward one frame. Try it.
Jump to the end of the Color Correction clip in the timeline and click on the Titles tab at the very top of the Program screen.
Click on the New Title button on the left of the Program window.
Name the title "green screen" and click ok.
Click in the Program window and type "Greenscreen" in the middle of the frame. Click away and select and move the text if you need to adjust the position. You can edit the text to look however you want with all the tools at the top and right sides of the screen.
With the playhead at the end of the Color Correction clip (use the down arrow), press the period key. The period key sends a clip to the timeline and puts it wherever the playhead is.
This is another quick key you must remember. The period key sends a clip to the timeline.
You can also drag and drop a clip to the timeline.
Play your timeline by clicking J a couple times to get to the beginning and then K once to go forward at normal speed.
Stop the playhead with the K key when you are able to read the word Greenscreen three times quickly and trim the end of the text layer to that place in the timeline.
The rule for any text in a movie is that it must be readable three times quickly by you to allow a new viewer to see that there is text, start to read the text, and then to actually read and process the text. Don't break this rule!!!unlessyouhavesomesmalltextattheendofamedicalcommercialthatnobodycouldeverreadquickenoughanywayandthespeakerisspeakingitanyway.
Import the green screen_obiwan_001 file into your project and press the period key to load it to the timeline.
Then create text saying "Garbage Matte" and load it into the timeline.
Repeat for all the clips and save your project.
Finishing and exporting your movie
1. Create text at the end saying "by Your Name"
2. All films fade from black at the beginning and fade to black at the end. Go to the Effects Layout Tab at the top of the screen, then open the Video Transitions folder on the top right and then the Dissolve folder.
Drag the Cross Dissolve effect to the end of your video and another to the beginning.
Then open the Audio Transitions folder and then open the Crossfade folder.
Drag Exponential Fade to the end of your Audio layer to make the music fade out. A little fade in at the beginning is sometimes good but the music used here starts from zero already.
Now you are ready to export.
Be sure the timeline is selected!!! If you don't, the last thing you clicked will be exported.
File > Export > Media
When the export window pops up you need to name your video, select where it will go, and make sure the video codec is h.264.
Press Export.
