This is a week-long+ project where you will plan, shoot, edit, and create effects for a story that you create. Rule #1 is to keep it simple. This should not be an epic ten minute movie. This should be a one minute movie. You can go over or under, but don't push it too much.
Step 1: Define groups. 6 per group per table. No more. Less is fine. When you get into your groups, choose a director, a camera person, a sound person, and your actors. (3 minutes)
Step 2: Ideas (5 min.) Come up with story ideas in your group and choose the one for your group. Just the idea, not the details.
Step 3: Feedback. (5 min.) Send someone to another table to get feedback about your plan. Give feedback to the person who comes to your table.
Step 4: Storyboard. Discuss how the story will unfold. Create a grid on paper and draw the action (stick figures are fine) that will happen in camera for at least six shots. Write about what is happening at the top or bottom of the box and dialog near the characters. 15 min.
Step 5: Shoot your shots. No handheld shots! Everything on a tripod. If you must handhold the shot (running, etc., keep it steady! (1 hour) Do not disturb classrooms or hallways! Stay outside near the AEC or in the quad. Or shoot in the AEC. You can use the studio if you need green screen or the portable GS.
Step 6: Import video onto at least one computer. Everyone will edit their own video and do their own effects.
