2) Herennius


A centurion named Herennius was involved in the murder of Cicero: according to Plut. Cic. 48, 1f., he dealt Cicero the killing blow, though according to Hieron. Ol. 184, 2 (= Euseb. chron. II 139 d. e Schoene = Suet. p. 81, 6 Reiff) it was a soldier named Popillius who did so, who in Plutarch plays the role of the tribune pulling the strings (see there). <60>
