Arrius 1

vol. II p.1251

1) Arrius

Mocked by Catullus c. 84 for his non-standard speech: Chommoda dicebat, si quando commoda vellet Dicere, et insidias Arrius hinsidias v. 1-2; everything else that we find out from the poem is just that Arrius was sent to Syria, v. 7, but neither by whom nor with what purpose. The identifications of this Arrius with one of the other known Arrii from the time of Cicero (cf. nr. 4. 7. 8) are founded on baseless claims.
