34) M. Caelius Rufus

The father of nr. 35, he came from a Municipium (Cic. Cael. 5), <40> was a Roman knight (ibid. 3f.), and owned estates, including some in Africa (ibid. 73). Both he and his wife were already very old when their only son was tried in 698 = 56 (ibid. 3f. 79); cf. Wieschhölter De M. Caelio Rufo oratore 3.
