Ap. Claudius 12

vol. III p.2668

12) Ap. Claudius

In 667 = 87, as military tribune, he kept the Ianiculum under siege as Marius moved against Rome; Claudius opened the gate for him when Marius reminded him of a service he'd done for him in the past (Appian. bell. civ. I 68). <20> Borghesi considers him as a son of either the consul of 662 = 92 (nr. 302; Oeuvres II 174) or of the consul of 624 = 130 (nr. 11; ibid. V 317), which is less likely. cf. nr. 13.
