He was a subordinate official, and likely a client of the consul P. Claudius Pulcher (nr. 304), <30> and was appointed dictator by him in 505 = 249, despite the senate (scriba Fasti Cap.; viator Suet. Tib. 2; sortis ultimae homo Liv. ep. XIX). He was immediately forced to resign (Fasti Cap. Liv.), but he kept the insignia of his title (Liv.).
