245) Ap. Claudius Nero

Perhaps a brother of nr. 249, he was a legate of Flaminius in Greece in 557 = 197, and was present at his talks with King Philipp (Polyb. XVIII 8, 6, from which Liv. XXXII 35, 7), he then lead an embassy of Greek allies to Rome (Polyb. XVIII 10, 8, from which Liv. XXXII 36, 10). <20> In 558 = 196, he was once again in the same position in Greece, and lead the army back home from there (Liv. XXXIII 29, 9. XXXIV 50, 10). As a praetor, he managed Hispania Ulterior in 559 = 195, as well as reinforcements to the legion stationed there (Liv. XXXIII 42, 7. 43, 5. 7. XXXIV 10, 1) and supported the operations of the praetor of Hispania Citerior, P. Manlius (Liv. XXXIV 17, 1). In 565 = 189, he was a member of the committee of ten, who had to manage matters to do with Asia Minor (Liv. XXXVII 55, 7). <30>
