Grand Campaigns are a comprehensive and massive game which proceed through the major Paradox titles including CK3 -> EU4 -> Vic3 -> HOI4 -> Stellaris. These games allow Houses to proceed through history and struggle to survive in the chaotic reform period in the 18th-20th centuries. Stories and histories will weave into one another and become complex and engaging to a degree without compare.
Most strategy gamers innately want something big, history is complex and most who play these games understand that. Paradox games individually allow you to simulate a fascinating period of history that you can fully immerse yourself in. At the end of them, it feels like a lot and it is, but none compare to a grand campaign. 1000 years of history, not just any either the period when humanity undertakes its most defining and important changes and choices. You will start the game in the medieval age, after the schism which split Christianity in two and end nations amongst the stars with all of the galaxy explored. This allows for pure creativity, and to look back on something as special as it is memorable.
No strategy game you play is alike of course, even Chess which is the same board will play out in near infinite ways. Grand campaigns will completely change history, by the end of CK3 it will be recognizable. When you see this in time lapses or things like that it ends up being kind of silly and odd due to not understanding the history and having AI's make nonsensical. In a multiplayer role play format there is actual reason for change, reform, expansion, and everything else. You will see a clear and documented history which makes sense and feels more like getting lost in Wikipedia than reading a 12 year olds alt history fan-fic. We will run these every year, each one will be unrecognizable and dramatically different. Infinite roleplay in infinite diversity.
Every action no matter how small has an effect. In Grand Campaigns this becomes incredibly obvious and fun to watch. A battle lost in 1093 could result in a country forming 300 years later. The failure of a minor religious war in India could be the reason one day Asia is dominated by Buddhism. The campaign does this by itself, though guided of course by you and the rest of the players. These build and build until its easy to lose track but still see the veins of change.
There will be no short of flavor and interesting events. The games themselves all offer dramatically different periods, mechanics, events, and changes. But when you add on top of that players who will make choices an AI never could, and are innately impossible to predict there will not be many dull moments.
Signups open June 10th, 2023 Noon EST.
In order to join the game you must put a list of countries you wish to play in the appropriate channel linked on the side. If the campaign has yet to start its open to all, but if ongoing take a look at the player list and map to see what is currently open. We do try to maintain a balance of players in certain areas so you will not be allowed to go off on your own, this is to promote RP and balance.
Talking with the players in the area out of RP when you are assigned a country would be a good idea to get on the same page.
In order to deal with issues cause by game issues, bugs, AI stupidity, or other problems the game controller team will make game edits between sessions. This is only to be used for major stuff or the most rare of RP edits as its a lot of work for staff and not to be used lightly. Requests should be put in 48 hours before the game session at least to be done in time.
Courts are areas which we use to define regions of the map. These are administrative areas where we try to have a certain amount of players in the different games to balance. The goal is to have enough to have plenty of RP options and to stop rapid expansion. Each region will have a support game controller watching over it which will be as far from their actual area in game as possible.

Grand Campaigns are long, very long. In order to make the process of playing the game more approachable we will have a House System. A House founded at the start will have the ability to have more than 1 player in it. These in ck3 would be other landed members of the family, and in games after direct COOP, vassals, colonies, or other nations of the same dynasty. This is not a team, hugbox or alliance. Houses will be used to give you a way to RP with people and an overarching story through a large part of the game and consistent RP partners. It is expected inner house rivalries, issues, wars, etc happen. This should not be a system you use to team up and railroad eachothers RP and others.
The main reason for adding it are
- Overarching story with other players
- RP Partners throughout the game
- People who can sub for you in games you dont want to play
- A way to engage in a long campaign with others
- Player stories new players can join into fluidly, as well as a place <tier 5 players can play agents and learn from
When the game has not started you are welcome to find a group you want to do this with and signup together.
The requirement to join the game and play anything directly is tier 5, see what they are here.
If you are not this rank already you can still participate as a coop part of one of the Houses, a diplomat, unlanded character, or anything else. You will not be able to join the game and participate directly. If you do good RP, and show effort you will be ranked up. You also will be able to be taught and coached directly by your house members so your RP will improve. The GC team will overview the Agents often so its a good way to rank up too.
It is worth noting this campaign will be incredibly long. We estimate at least 6 months to get all the way through, probably more. The scale and time taken alongside the multiplayer issues we will have will make the game slow. This means the RP will be incredible but it is a long road to complete. It is not expected you make all sessions, nor even participate in the entire thing. Some paradox games are not appealing to everybody and you can skip them, it is just expected if you signup you do not just jump out immediately and you communicate to staff your timeline and when leaving.
With a campaign of this size it is necessary to have some pillar to link everything together. Something that will be consistent throughout history and provide RP fun. In the Grand Campaigns this will be the Olympics. This will be an event held every 100 years where anybody can send members to compete in various competitions. We will also have a system for rolling and involvement directly.
With a project of such magnitude we will be using a wiki to track characters, nations, events, and Houses. This will be free form so you are welcome to update your own involvement as well as anything you like to build a history for each campaign which you can look back on far in the future.
