Background
While the history of Dobrodja is short, their deeds has made them famous across Europe. During the recent and brutal Crusade of Varna, a large group of religious fanatic knights were seen across the Balkans. At first it seemed like they had no banner, no name and no leader, fighting for their own cause within the massive war.
They were given the nickname the 'Intrepidus', being Latin for 'fearless', as the Intrepidus knights would engage in the most dangerous and seemingly insane acts, most believe these are mere legends.
Most of the tales comes from the Turks. They contain stories of Knights scaling castle walls during the night to assassinate important Turks, like generals, logistic commanders, messengers and alike. They would sometimes leave the important targets alive, just to kill their wives and children to create absolute fear and chaos in the minds of the high ranked.
Rumors has it that they even engaged against more numerous army, just to suddenly make a suicidal cavalry charge into the Turkish center, kill a general and then tactically retreat back to the shadowy forests they came from.
Some people claim that Dobrodja is just a puppet of the Catholic Church, sent out to punish those who disobey the Papacy. It seems that those people are correct.
Current Relations
Good relations with Venice, as they provided them with ships to sail from Crimea and to strike into the Balkans
Alliances
Three stars alliance, they are your strongest ally since year 1333.
While the quality of their amy is not the best, their use of tactics, navy and influence makes up for it.
Sicily was attacked by Naples and the Papal States in 1351, they did not call any allies for aid and they defeated them singlehanded, by letting them invade Sicily, win the naval superiority and routing their armies into desertion one by one.
This young nation has proven themselves to be a serious Kingdom. You have mad respect for the ambitions of House Raffaelli.
Three stars alliance since 1428.
This alliance is fairly new, but the Jewish family of Suasso has been extremely kind to your nation.
You share the same trade in the Valencia node and their merchants has just begun to teach you how to make those ducats count.
This alliance also secures your southren border and the Catalonian army to aid you, which seems more relevant than ever as the French Kingdom just collapsed.
Rivals
You hate Gascony more than anything.
Their ruler, Jean V of Armagnac married his sister, which utterly disgusts you and now they are independent, aggressive and your neighbour.
This is a three star rival.
Aragon hates you for aiding Catalonia in their independence and they partially blames you for their current downfall. They would love to see your nation burn.
Two star rival.
You see them as weak and arrogant.
As soon as they become independent from the French tyrants, they quickly bend the knee to the Holy Roman Emperor, who even granted them an electorate. You are ashamed that your cultural brothers did this.
Two star rival.
The Intrepidus knights would march through the dark forests at night without torches to light the way, so be unseen by any enemy. They always knew the way to go.
Rumor has it, that the majority of the knights are religious fanatics of Gothic culture from Crimea. Many Genoese families that settled in Crimea are now integrated into the Gothic culture, traces of Italian bloodlines can be found among them.
After our enemies claimed we were the pet pup of the Papacy, lots of our people turned the mocking words into an identity, wearing masks of wolves and dogs.
Not only do they wear them during war, but the most devoted has begun to wear them during mass and even daily life.
Some speculate if the mask wearing tendency could be turned into a unique knighthood or a religious order.

The French nobility has always been obsessed with the lily flower. The fleur-de-lis has been used in art and heraldry. In Toulouse, the flower of the region is the viola. It can be used for coloring, cooking, medicine and perfumes. Toulouse has been independent long enough to establish their own identify with the viola and distanced themselves from the fleur-delis.

5. The Barking Puppy of the Papacy
In the eyes of the Goths in Dobrodja, they have bend the knee to God and obeys his holy texsts. To non-Catholics, it seems more like we have bend the knee to the Pope and is his puppy-pet in the Balkans. We have embraced this mocking name. We will show the world that this dog bites. During sieges our men howl like wild animals all night. When our men charges into the heretics they roar like dogs mad with rabies.
Our knights that wears dogs and wolves masks spread fear into our enemies, they know they are our most fanatic warriors desperate to throw themselves into martyrdom.

Our existence as a nation is largely because of The Papacy and the many cardinals in the Curia that pressed their host nations into supporting the creation of a new crusader state. Cathars has a different view on death than any other Christian. A true zealot of the Cathar faith does not fear death, even by execution. Cathars are famous across Europe for instances where inquisitors have punished Cathars, who stubbornly accepts their fate and denies any other options than to die as a true Cathar. This fearless behavior can clearly be seen on the battlefield.
