The North has Arannen, the east has Arbaran, but we are the shield that guards the south of Anbennar. Our prowess is not born out of the tourney field or training yard like so many of the decadent houses in the Empire. The Gnolls banged at our door for years and now are pushed back to the mountains in the south though they still raid us and our neighbors. We found ourselves on the side of Wex during the Lilac wars and walked away with many new holdings and the favor of the Emperor. As ever ours is a loyal house. The Dukes of Sugamber take pride in having no ambition for the Emperorship but rather being the bulwark of the south and enjoying the prestige and prominence that comes with the not so humble title. We are surrounded by lions however, and they are circling. But as in the path we find our strength in the despair of hard choices. Let them come, we will stand firm as we always do.

To the north Lies Arannen with their ambitions of glory and admittedly competent military ability. They are weaker than us but a lion all the same. To the south lies Busilar whose size and strength are intimidating to say the least. Their power has allowed them to stay out of the Empire up until now but perhaps that will change. Regardless we are surrounded by lions who have strength and experience as we do. Our force of arms will not be enough for us to survive this situation. We will need to use our diplomatic ties and create new ones. The Wexiard Emperor owes us and we will need to use that and more.

Ours is not a land of peace nor often times stability. The raids from the Gnolls in the south and the recent Lilac wars which we played a large part have made our lands tired and exhausted. This is no new state of affairs. Despite our victories over the enemies at the soutehrn gate of the Empire our history is full of war and violence, it is the only thing our people can ever count on besides one. Carnivals and festivals are the one respite our people have at all level be it poor beggar, hardworking peasant, or noble lord. We all get together several times a year for great celebrations where we can let out all of the stress and exhaustion of war and strife. Our people don't just expect them, they demand it. If they were to ever not occur we would likely have a rebellion on our hand. It is such that the Dukes of Sugamber personally patron and fund them in order to earn support and popularity with the common people which works to varying degrees.
