The powerful Mamluks has taken control of Arabia and the Calipahte
The Mamluks is in an unique situation. Their government consists of the powerful mamluks, slave soldiers that turned renegade and took over the government of Al-Muazzam Turanshah, the Egyptian Sultan in 1250.
Already in 1258, Bagdad was sacked by the Mongols and the Abbasid Caliphate fled Bagdad and has been protected by the Mamluks in Cairo since 1261. The Caliphate has since not held much power, as the militaristic noble lords of the Mamluks holds the power.

Situs Nation
As the protector of the Abbasid Caliphate it is expected that you roleplay the Caliphate as an entity within your nation.
Your ruler is not the caliphate. You should roleplay the somewhat 'independent' Caliphate within your nation. Maybe they disagree with the Sultan of the Mamluks. What kind of unique RP narrative can you come up with as the controller of the Caliphate?
Should Cairo fall, another nation will control them. If a non-Sunni nation captures the Caliphate, they can ransom them or use them to humiliate the Islamic world for Power Projection.
As a Situs Nation we expect to see some roleplay regarding the Caliphate narrative and see its mechanics being used.
Goals of the Caliphate:
Unify Islam
Destroy heretics
Spread Islam in all ways, by the sword, diplomatically, forced marriage, trade.
Enforce the laws of Islam (Sharia) to all lands with muslims (dar al-Islam)
If you lose the Caliphate, the story of the Mamluks is open for you to do with as you please, historically, they became a subject to the Ottomans and the Mamluks soldier class became a powerful faction within the Ottoman Empire. The lands controlled by the Mamluks were split into eyalets and administered by governors, later titled Grand Viziers. Instead of the Mamluks sultan being the ruler, it’s the Ottoman sultan and his assigned governors. Everyday life for the average man didn’t change a lot.

Lord of Holy Sites
The Mamluks control huge amounts of land and the militaristic Lords will for sure subjugate even more. The lands we control is covered in holy sites for all Abraham's Religions. Al-Aqsa in Al-Quds, Medina, Mekkah, Antioch and so many more. Rulers from all across the Christian and Islamic world will have an interest in our lands, we must secure powerful alliances and prepare for those who desire us down.
A land plagued by war
Since the First Crusade in the 11th century, our lands has been the victims to an unending onslaught of war. The Seventh Crusade ended in 1254, to ensure peace and stability, the mamluks slave soldiers had to overthrow the Sultan and establish a new government.
Our lands are devastated and people dead. We must rebuilt our great homes and repopulate our families! The potential of our land is great, a new golden age of Arabia and Islam is in our hands!
Secure your position in Arabia by subjugating the small independent Emirs. Should they stay as powerful vassals or be integrated and ruled by the powerful Mamluks?
Keep the Caliphate
Should the Ottomans capture Constantinople will they become a rival in power to us. If this happens, who will our allies be?
Gather strength and fortify your holdings, war will be upon us soon.
Decide upon the future of the Mamluks - Unify and form Arabia. Conquer the Horn of Africa? Conquer North Africa?
As a major trade nation we dominate the sale and production of many exotic goods. Who shall we export to?
We produce massive amounts of cattle, could we shift this production into leather and dominate the market?
- Advice from former Mamluks Players -
Antiq - Global Campaign Season 3:
Don't be afraid of the wars that will come. It will take several major victories for the Ottomans, or in my case, Byzantium, to conquer all of the Levant. You begin the game as the 2nd Great Power with a massive 361 development and massive land to conquer in Arabia and the Horn of Africa. You are a wealthy nation with a large manpower pool spread out over almost 50 provinces. Even if your enemy occupies all of the Levant, your powerful provinces in Egypt will still provide you with men and gold. You are in a position to fight for a very long time. Sadly, so is the Ottomans.
