Secure critical alliances

Our country has protected the Empire's borders since it was founded. We are known throughout the Empire as a fierce, tough, and self-reliant people for that reason. Powerful rivals and long-time enemies from the Lilac wars surround our borders, though, and our position is far from secure. We should work fast to secure a strong network of alliances in our region of the Empire, while working to deflect the hostile attention of the larger powers nearby. By doing so, we can turn our gaze outwards when the time is right, and begin building our strength...

Before the disastrous Lilac wars began, strong colonial ambition had been widespread amongst our people. Now that the war is over, the smoldering embers of this ambition have begun to burn once more. We do not fear the dark forests and the unknown dangers of the Folly. Rather, we should seek to conquer and tame this great wilderness, bringing great prestige and riches to our country!

While Arannenese culture and craftmanship are renowed and respected throughout the Empire,  we are far from the fertile and well-developed coastlines of the Dameshead Sea. As such, we are forced to import many critical trade goods, which leaves us financially and diplomatically reliant on others. We should, through development and carefully timed expansion, seek to gradually remove these dependencies and establish true self-reliance.
