Duke  William II The Bastard

Born a bastard, and having inherited the duchy of Normandy at a very young age, Duke William's life has not been easy so far, with him having to spend a good part of his reign consolidating his realm and fighting relatives and contenders. However, William is a man of ambition, and he will not stop there. As a matter of fact, he considers himself the rightful King of England. Despite the late King Eadward only being of remote kin to him, rumour is that in 1051 the King chose him as his heir. Alone, that would not be enough for one to claim a throne, but with Eadward dying without an heir apparent, this rumour has turned into an opportunity that William is ready to seize.
