Description
At the start of Robert's Rebellion, House Lannister was one of the most powerful and wealthy houses in the Seven Kingdoms. Their sigil was a golden lion on a field of crimson.
At the time, House Lannister was led by Lord Tywin Lannister, a ruthless and cunning man who had served as Hand of the King to Aerys II Targaryen, the Mad King. Despite their loyalty to the Targaryens, Tywin and his family were feared and respected throughout the Seven Kingdoms, thanks to their vast wealth and military might.
The Lannisters were the rulers of the Westerlands, a region known for its gold mines and fertile lands. They had a long and proud history, dating back to the Age of Heroes, when they were said to have descended from Lann the Clever, a legendary trickster who tricked the Casterlys out of their ancestral home, Casterly Rock.
Over the centuries, House Lannister had played a key role in the politics of the Seven Kingdoms, often forging alliances and making strategic marriages to increase their power and influence. However, they were also known for their ruthless tactics and willingness to do whatever was necessary to maintain their grip on power.
