A STORM GATHERS ●Cost: None or 1 Legend per useDice Pool: None
Type: Persistent
Every Storm Deity is intuitively connected to the angry skies above them, and only grow stronger as the storm closes in. Anyone who possesses this boon may tap into the growing power of the angry skies -- whenever a Storm Boon is used in a scene by any being, you gain +1 dice to any subsequent uses of this purview in the same scene. This effective is cumulative and has no ceiling.
Once per turn, you may reflexively pay 1 Legend to cause the sky to crackle or rumble in anger and grant you +2 successes on any dramatic social roll used to scare or intimidate. This counts as using a Storm Boon, but the successes do not stack with themselves. (This is intentionally the only Rank 1 Storms Boon)
STORM AUGMENTATION ●●
Cost: 2 Legend per scene
Dice Pool: None
Type: Miscellaneous (Thunder, Lightning)
Storms are one of the most impressive and awe inspiring things that ancient man has ever seen, and this boon allows you to call upon that terrible power and focus it into several minutes of explosive violence. Activating this boon allows any weapon you hold (such as a gun, sword, or your own fist) to be shrouded with crackling lightning or resonant thunder that is unleashed whenever you successfully deal damage to a target. You may only be empowered with one storm augmentation at a time.
Thunder: Successful damage causes an explosive boom that launches the target back 5 yards for every die you have gained from ‘A Storm Gathers’.
Lightning: Successful damage causes a staggering shock that deals 1 additional bashing damage for every die you have gained from ‘A Storm Gathers’.
SPRING STORM ●●
Cost: None
Dice Pool: Storms + Survival
Type: Miscellaneous
With the return of spring to the world, fresh rains come and soak the earth, but with them ride storm clouds, angry and crashing with thunder and lightning. Activating this Boon allows you to summon forth an angry spring storm regardless of the season, which covers a radius of (Thunder Boon) miles until the end of the scene. Roll 1d10 on the chart below to determine the kind of storm you summon.
This Boon generates two dice towards “A Storm Gathers” (Storms 1) rather than one, and the activation roll may be contested by others who attempt to control the weather.
THUNDEROUS VOICE ●●
Cost: None
Dice Pool: None
Type: Persistent (Lesser Aura)
Many mortals possess a booming voice, but they are nothing to the Thunderers of the Pantheons. A Scion with this Boon speaks with the crack of lightning behind every word, which seems to thunder down from the heavens. All enemies in the scene suffer -2 successes on Charisma rolls as your sheer presence makes them less impressive in contrast.
STORM KING/QUEEN ●●●
Cost: None
Dice Pool: None
Type: Passive
Even when they are not the rulers, Storm Deities are often the loudest and most boisterous of their Pantheons. You gain +2 successes to Command and Presence rolls, and may discharge harmless shocks as a cosmetic effect. Your true appearance also changes to reveal your stormy nature, such as abnormally loud footsteps, or faint lightning that dances around your body. At Legend 9 this bonus increases to +4 successes.
THUNDERCLAP ●●●
Cost: 2 Legend per use
Dice Pool: Storms + Brawl OR Art (vs Soak DV)
Type: Miscellaneous (Thunder)
Lightning flashes, but thunder rumbles off the tallest mountains. To activate this boon, you must create some sort of dramatic noise; such as a shout, smash your hands together, or blow a horn. This causes a colossal thunderclap to sweep over the scene, and anybody who fails to resist is immediately struck deaf and suffers a success penalty equal to (Storm Boons) on all perception checks until the end of the scene. The one saving grace is that anyone standing behind the Thunderer gains +6 to resist this boon.
SMITE ●●●
Cost: 2 Legend per use
Dice Pool: Storms + Presence
Type: Miscellaneous (Lightning)
With an utterance of condemnation and a blinding flash of light, you call down the primordial force that has struck mountains, blown apart towers, and split sacred trees. Perhaps this is simply a warning, or the manifestation of your wrath over an offense. Activating this boon creates a single staggering bolt of lightning that crashes down from the heavens upon a building, or inanimate object of your choice with devastating results. This deals unsoakable lethal damage equal to your successes on the activation roll.
Additionally, if the offending building or inanimate object is higher than 100 yards off the ground (such as a skyscraper or airplane) then double your successes on the activation roll. The gods punish those who aspire to the heavens.
BLACK CLOUDS ●●●●
Cost: None
Dice Pool: None or Storms + Command
Type: Miscellaneous
The black clouds of a wrathful sky move at the beck and call of the Thunderers. The Demigods of the Pantheons have the capacity to tap into this skill, and can wield influence over storms, both natural and otherwise.
This Boon functions in two different ways depending on if the Storm the Scion wishes to influence is naturally occurring, or created through use of the Storms Purview. Natural storms require no roll to influence, and a Scion may move them great distances. For example, a Scion sailing through the Celtic Sea and faced with a natural storm can shout up at the heavens and have the storm move to Halifax. Storms created through the use of Storms Boons, such as Spring Storms (Rank 2) can also be moved with this Boon in this way. If Boon was summoned forth by another being, the user of this Boon must overcome the original caster’s Activation Successes to move the Storm. If the Boon had no activation roll, the user of this Boon and the influenced Boon have a contested Storms + Command role to determine if the storm can be influenced.
A Scion with this Boon can use this Boon to move their A Storm Gathers (Storms 1) dice to another Scene, bringing their storms along with them. Dice may only be moved one Scene before becoming unable to be moved? Or The cost of this Boon doubles each successive Scene past the first a pool of dice is moved.
DRUMS OF THUNDER ●●●●
Cost: None
Dice Pool: None
Type: Passive
To many Pantheons, Thunder is produced through musical instruments, such as Shango’s drums. A Scion may too chose to make a single object the focus of their Thunder, be it a shield that roars when struck, wings that boom when beat, or a trumpet that sounds with the rage of heaven, it is up to the Scion.
After binding such an object to the concept of their Thunder, they must use that object to wield all Thunder causing Boons in the Storms Purview, being unable to create Thunder, even if they have their Channeling Relic, or no longer need one. While this drawback is obvious, using this object in order to make Thunder gives the benefit of allowing the user to channel any Thunder Fates at a +1 Dot value, while not having the drawback of being an additional Dot higher.
SMOKING BOLT ●●●●
Cost: None
Dice Pool: None
Type: Passive
Among the Gods and Goddesses of the Pantheons, many wield Lightning as a physical object, such as Mjölnir or Shango’s axes, and with this Boon, a Scion may endow their lightning into an object as well, often weapons.
After using this Boon to bind their Lightning to an object, a Scion must use that object to wield all Lightning summoning Boons in the Storms Purview, being unable to create Lightning, even if they have their Channeling Relic, or no longer need one. While this drawback is obvious, using this object in order to summon Lightning gives the benefit of allowing the user to channel any Lightning Fates at a +1 Dot value, while not having the drawback of being an additional Dot higher.
CHALCHIUHTLICUE LAMENT ●●●●●
Cost: None
Dice Pool: Storms + Intimidation
Type: Passive
Black clouds staring down angrily at humanity far below have often been interpreted as an omen, or sign of displeasure of the Divine. A Demigod may summon forth these angry clouds to stare down at a region, as large as a city for one day per Sky Rank, causing one of two effects.
Using this Boon generates three dice towards the “A Storm Gathers” (Storms 1) pool.
Heaven’s Anger: The black clouds emanate one thing, clear and obvious wrath upon all. All beings in the area must compare their MDV to the activation roll, and if they have a lower MDV than the activation roll, they become terrified of the potential doom. All beings terrified by this Boon must try to avoid the open sky at all costs, staying home rather than going to work, and such dramatic feats as trying to use sewers to get around rather than risk the obvious wrath.
Sorrow’s Sky: The black clouds dampen the spirits of all in the region that the Demigod has chosen to cover. It leaves those in the area whose MDVs are not higher than the activation role on this Boon unable to regenerate Willpower through any means until the effect ends.
STORM HERALD ●●●●●
Cost: None
Dice Pool: None
Type: Reflexive
Appearing in a cacophony of thunder and lightning is a particularly useful skill for those who like to make an entrance, which the huge personalities of the Storm Deities enjoy greatly. Where thunder rolls, they will be there, when lightning splits a tree, they step out of the smoking oaken ruin.
When a Scion uses a Boon from the Storm Purview that creates lightning, thunder, or a storm, they may reflexively use this Boon to vanish and appear wherever the effect was centered.
AUTUMN STORM ●●●●● ●
Cost: None
Dice Pool: Storms + Command
Type: Passive
Where the storms of Spring are wild, the world reawakening from the deathly sleep of winter, the storms of Autumn are wrathful and devastating, a dying world refusing to go silently into the cold grips of winter.
When a Scion uses this Boon, they roll a d10 and determine the effect from the chart below, generating 5 dice towards the “A Storm Gathers” (Storms 1) pool in the process. They may instead chose to select one of the effects from the Spring Storm (Storms 2) Boon instead, but only generate 2 dice.
LEVIN’ FURY ●●●●● ●
Cost: None
Dice Pool: Storms + Thrown / Marksmanship
Type: Passive
One of the most iconic weapons wielded by divinity is Lighting. Ba’al, Shango, Zeus, Marduk, Thor, all wielders of this potent weapon. At this point, on the cusp of their very own apotheosis, a Demigod may wield it as well.
Firstly, entirely passively, this Boon causes all projectiles used by the Demigod to be caked in Lightning, or be made of Lightning itself. For guns, slings, bows, blowpipes, and other weapons that hurl projectiles, the Deity has infinite ammunition, lightning generating passively to be used. This passive effect has no mechanical bonus.
When activated, however, the Demigod’s attack becomes devastatingly powerful. Any being the Demigod can see, even if through use of a Knack in the Perception tree, or through heightened sight range through a Relic, such as Odin’s Throne, is an eligible target. The attack inflicts Aggravated damage.
ROLLING THUNDER ●●●●● ●
Cost: None
Dice Pool: Storms + Intimidation or Art
Type: Miscellaneous
Where those that wield lightning break their enemies, the deities of Thunder leave the world quaking and not daring to raise a hand to the Thunderer. By playing upon their thunderous drums, beating their colossal wings, or however else the Scion calls forth thunder, they may start a chorus of heavenly booms which cause one of the two following effects.
The Porcupine's Fear: Using the Boon in this function spreads the thunder far and wide, following after the Scion wherever they travel. All beings are aware of the presence of the Storm Deity, and their anger. Any being who has less MDV than the successes rolled on this Boon may not approach the Thunderer out of fear.
Shango’s Drums: When Shango marches to war, he plays his colossal drums booming through the landscape. All who hear the thunder produced by the Scion want nothing more than to flee the Scene. Any being who has lower MDV than the Successes gathered will try to flee the Scene immediately upon hearing the thunder. Some interaction with War to prevent routing?
WRATH OF HEAVEN ●●●●● ●●
Cost: None
Dice Pool: None
Type: Passive
Heaven roars, and screams its fury at the insolence of others at the whim of a Demigod on the cusp of apotheosis. They truly are a force to be reckoned with at this point, a danger to countless beings. With this Boon, this terrifying fury of the Storms allows a Scion to wield the Storm’s rage in more potent ways.
Storm Augmentation: The knockback caused by blessed attacks changes to twenty yards per point of Lethal inflicted.
Thunderous Voice: Penalty increases to including all Command and Perception rolls.
Thunderclap: The Boon now inflicts Bashing Damage.
Call Storms: Generates two additional dice towards the “A Storm Gathers” (Storms 1) pool, and may summon supernatural storms based off their other Purviews, such as rains of frogs if they possess Animal.
HURRICANE ●●●●● ●●
Cost: X or X2
Dice Pool: Storms + Command
Type: Passive
Tornadoes, hurricanes, terrifying natural disasters of devastating storms can be summoned forth by a Demigod at a whim. Some summon them from a bag, others with a roar, or a snap of their fingers, but no matter the source, the devastation is the same, adding a Hazard to the scene.
All beings who fail to resist the Hazard become unable to move themselves, being picked up by the chaotic whirling winds and being thrown around at random. If an individual normally possesses a way to fly, they must overcome the activation role on a Dexterity + Athletics role every turn while in the air to keep control.
A STORM BREAKS ●●●●● ●●●
Cost: None
Dice Pool: None
Type: Passive
Just as storms gather, they too, in one sudden instant, will explode into terrible action and devastation, night becoming as bright as day for a moment as the world is illuminated by lightning.
A Deity with this Boon may choose, at any point they are using a Storm Boon, to also activate this Boon. It immediately changes all dice from “A Storm Gathers” (Storms 1) into Automatic Successes for one single roll, but lose access to the pool for the remainder of the scene, while others may still tap this pool unless they also use this Boon.
SERPENT SLAYER ●●●●● ●●●
Cost: None
Dice Pool: None
Type: Passive
The enmity between many Storm Gods, and great reptilian beasts, be they Typhon, Illuyanka, Jormungand, or in the case of Yam, a fellow God. A new Deity who takes this Boon takes on a similar enmity, gaining a 5 Dot Fate regarding this enmity.
This Fate causes a great serpentine, and often connected to the sea, beast to rise in opposition to yourself (or an existing one to grow in might). This creature is your new eternal foe, and Fate will see to it that they are eternally a threat to you. The Fate, though, will additionally set you against all serpentine creatures, if they are friendly, or not.
SUPERSTORM ●●●●● ●●●●
Cost: None
Dice Pool: Storms + Command
Type: Passive
An apocalyptic storm is an often repeated story in myth, be it Yahweh, Enlil, Zeus, or Tlaloc being the source of it, the story is often the same. In their rage, a Storm Deity lets loose endless rain, washing away all remnants of the human world.
This Boon inflicts population, and infrastructural damage on a region, up to the size of a large country. This Boon destroys two percent of the population, and infrastructure per Success rolled on the activation roll.
However, this Boon is exceptionally overt, and takes one month of ceaseless rain. In this period, other Deities can seek to intervene, or in some cases, the user of this Boon themselves, and may help save an area, or specific creatures through some means. The specifics of this can range from a great mountain range being erected around a city, or guidance in the construction of an Arc, but either way, this is mechanically represented by the opposing Deity making a relevant roll, saving one percent of the population and infrastructure per two Successes, though a Deity may chose to save a smaller percent, or only a specific thing.
Additionally, multiple Deities may intercede, each with different agendas, and reduce the total destruction independently of each other, each reducing the total.
MY NAME IS THUNDER ●●●●● ●●●●
Cost: None
Dice Pool: Storms + Command
Type: Passive
When a Thunder Deity wants attention, it is obvious. When they want no one else to get any, it is dramatic. With this Boon, a Thunderer may call forth ceaseless roars from the heavens, however they have chosen to represent it. These colossal roars of thunder crash through the scene, leaving all who rely on their clever tongues disadvantaged.
All beings in the scene (including the user), who wish to roll Charisma, or Manipulation for any reason must overcome the activation role of this Boon to guarantee anyone will hear what they have to say. If they are unable to, their authoritarian words, or charm, will fall on deaf ears. In many cases, literally.
All beings in the scene are unable to orally communicate if they are unable to overcome the thunder.
DIVINE STORM ●●●●● ●●●●●
Cost: None
Dice Pool: Storm + Command
Type: Passive
The storms of spring and autumn are nothing, the natural world unable to compete with the sheer force of divinity which inspires some storms. With this Boon, a Deity may call forth a storm to the scene, causing a random effect to arrive from the list below, determined by the roll of a d10. Doing this generates 10 dice towards “A Storm Gathers” (Storms 1) pool. The user may chose to select a single effect from Autumn Storms (Storms 6), though this only generates 5 dice for the “A Storm Gathers” (Storms 1) pool, or they may select all of the Spring Storms (Storms 2) effects, only generating two dice for the “A Storm Gathers” (Storms 1) Boon.
WRATH OF HEAVEN ●●●●● ●●●●●
Cost: None
Dice Pool: Storms + Thrown / Marksmanship
Type: Passive
There is lightning, and then there is Lightning. The Lighting that smote Yam, the Lightning that defeated Typhon, the Lightning that slew Tiamat. Such a weapon only the greatest may wield, and with this Boon, they may do just that.
When a Deity activates this Boon, they call forth a Lightning Bolt like no other, or endow an existing weapon with terrifying power, the effects of “A Storm Breaks” (Storms 8) doubling if used on this Boon.
After this Lightning is summoned through use of this Boon, the wielder may hold off on attacking with it, holding the gathered Successes until they chose to strike. When they do, the attack may only be resisted with Block DV, and deals Aggravated damage. Additionally, if the user fails to deal at least half the target’s Health Boxes in Aggravated, they may summon forth an additional bolt for no cost, using the same dice pool as previously, even if they had used resources, such as Legendary Deeds, or another Boon to augment it previously. These recalled attacks do not refund any damage inflicted, but may not be further strengthened in any way. A weapon that can fell even Titans.
This Boon may only be used once per Target per scene.
