King of the Underworld, and all the earth below the surface, Hades is the most distant of the Theoi from Olympus, preferring to stay in his great kingdom in the darkness beneath the earth, lording over the dead and all the wealth in the world, rather than having to deal with his brother in the heights of Olympus. While many see him as terrifying, having suffered much character assassination over the years since his worship, Hades is fairly lenient in the presence of Persephone. He allows Heracles to take his three headed guard dog Cerberus to complete one of his tasks, and even allows Orpheus to take his wife from the underworld, if he can only not look back until they reach the surface.

His kidnapping of Persephone is the subject of much wonder, many attempting to find where the blame sits, if there is any to place. By Greek tradition, there was some part of ritualized kidnapping as part of a marriage, and in some versions of the myth Zeus, as her father, has already given the marriage his blessing. The truth of the matter has been lost to mortals, and the likely only source of an unbiased answer lies with Persephone herself. If a Scion were to want to ask her, it may not be that difficult at all depending on what time of the year it is.
