ETERNAL VIGIL ●Cost: NoneDice Pool: None
Type: Passive
An endless vigil is what awaits Scions who walk the path of the Guardian, protecting his family through force of arms, his followers by sublime wards, and more. Many sleepless nights, await, but to assist with this, the Scion can activate this Boon once per Scene to gain +6 Automatic Successes on a single roll somehow related to keeping their vigil, or protecting a being blessed by Vigil’s Brand (rank 1). Be it raising their MDV to resist being tempted, or just giving them a little extra push to keep awake on the ninetieth hour watching over their followers, this Boon will assist.
VIGIL’S BRAND ●
Cost: None
Dice Pool: None
Type: Passive
You can’t be everywhere at once, it’s almost impossible to protect everyone. But, to help with this, the Scion may mark a being or a building somehow, be it an invisible thread of Fate, a X in lamb’s blood over the doorways, or anything else the Scion desires (though it must always be consistent). When a branded person, or building is harmed, the Scion gains immediate knowledge of it, the direction they are in, and a rough estimate of the distance.
After Offerings of Tears and Fear (Guardian 5) is taken, the Scion gains a Vigilant point every time they mark a mortal, or defend a marked mortal.
AEGIS ●●
Cost: None
Dice Pool: None
Type: Passive
Protect me on the hunt, protect me from sickness, from curses, at war, my children, and traveling. Protectors come in a thousand flavors, from familial defenders, such as Thor, a national guardian, such as Set, to personal guardians, such as Marduk.
To represent this, when a Scion purchases this Boon, they must select a specific situation this Boon will ward off. Death, for example, is too wide a reach, falling off a specific mountain is needlessly specific [though a Scion may take something needlessly specific if they wish], while protecting from the ocean is a reasonable example.
A Scion may use this Boon to bless a mortal to protect them from whatever they selected to protect against, giving them a permanent +2 Automatic Successes to protect themselves. If used on a Legendary Being, this blessing lasts for the Story.
After Offerings of Tears and Fear (Guardian 5) is taken, this Boon grants the user a Vigilant point every time it is used.
A Scion may take this Boon multiple times to be able to protect against multiple effects, though each version of the Boon must be activated independently. Additionally, additional versions of this Boon do not count towards the total number of Guardian Boons the Scion possesses.
WARD ●●
Cost: None
Dice Pool: None
Type: Passive
Sacred sites, walls of holy cities, all places a Deity may want to protect. A Hero may do the same, though they tend to not have such lofty places to protect as a Hero. With this Boon, the Scion may leave a building protected, and those who wish to protect it more vigilant.
Marking the building somehow, the Scion may add half of its soak again to itself, the building magically more stalwart, and all those who are defending the building gain are immune to natural penalties to their observation, such as darkness, fog, or rain.
SHIELD WALL ●●
Cost: None
Dice Pool: None
Type: Passive
Be it a Macedonian Phalanx, a Roman formation, or a Anglo-Saxon shield wall, all forms of communal protection. A Guardian Scion may chose to protect their fellows, always managing to be there to soften blows. All of the Scion’s allies in the Scene gain +2 Dodge and Block DV.
BODYGUARD ●●●
Cost: None
Dice Pool: None
Type: Passive
Guardians, protectors, and the watchmen of the Pantheons are some of the most stubborn, and hardy of the Pantheons, nothing escaping their eternal vigils. When a Scion takes this Boon, they gain some sort of physical mark relating to their role as a protector, and gain +2 to their Block DV, Dodge DV, or Mental DV, choosing one when they first buy this Boon. Additionally, they gain +2 to all Perception rolls, nothing getting past their gaze.
A Scion may purchase this Boon multiple times to collect the two DV bonuses they did not select the first time. Additional purchases of this Boon does not give any additional bonus to Perception, and the additional copies of the Boon does not count towards total number of Guardian Boons.
FOOD TASTER ●●●
Cost: None
Dice Pool: Guardian + Awareness
Type: Passive
Everywhere a warden goes, there are dangers. This is mostly because they tend to only be required in places where there are dangers, not because of some ancient Titanic curse or anything as extravagant as that. There are many dangers that could harm a Guardian’s wards, even while they are there personally. Assassin's very rarely are as kind to announce their profession and intent beforehand.
To assist, and prevent those who have chosen to become Guardians, Fate has endowed this power. A Scion may activate it to gain a supernatural sense pertaining to sensing dangers to those they in the Scene who they have marked with Vigil’s Brand (Guardian 1), all attempts at subtle assaults on the person of anyone in the Scene who has one of the Scion’s Brands must overcome the activation role of this Boon, or the Guardian becomes immediately aware of it.
THE NIGHT’S WATCH ●●●
Cost: None
Dice Pool: Guardian + Command
Type: Passive
From the most sprawling of Metropolises, to the smallest camps of nomadic peoples, watchers and guards have always been needed in one way or another. Though there is less worry of beasts stalking the night, or roving armies in the wilderness in modernity, with the return of the Pantheons, guards and watchers may be needed once more.
With this Boon, the Scion can quickly train a number of Mortals equal to their Successes on the activation role of this Boon to be guards. For one month per Guardian Rank, their normal Perception + Awareness dice pool changes to 8, almost at the pinnacle of mortal power.
Using this Boon after Offerings of Tears and Fear (Guardian 5) is taken causes it to generate one Vigilant point.
PALISADES ●●●●
Cost: None
Dice Pool: None
Type: Passive
At the end of every single day’s march, the Roman Army would construct a fortress, and then in the morning, disassemble it and move on. An amazing feat of organization in the ancient world, a Scion with this Boon may perform a similar feat.
By subdividing tasks, such as gathering resources, digging pits, and finding a suitable location, a Scion with this Boon may cause a suitably fortified encampment be constructed in a half-hour. The materials are dictated by what is available, be they tall logs, or heaped burned out tanks, the encampment has walls, places for wardens to stand, and generally leaves those inside safer in case of an attack.
The size of this encampment is determined by the Guardian Rank of the user, housing ten people per Rank.
MY FATHER’S SHIELD ●●●●
Cost: None
Dice Pool: None
Type: Passive
Selfless are many Guardians, one does not tend to develop the powers without a strong desire to protect others, even beyond the protection of one’s self. One of the greatest gifts a new Demigod skilled in the tools of the guardian can give is their own shields. By activating this Boon, they may give another being one of their Rank 1 Protection Boons for the Scene, losing access it for the Scene.
This great act of selflessness awards the Scion with a Vigilant point per use of this Boon.
Boons that this can be used on are: List all Immunity Boons.
COME RUNNING ●●●●
Cost: None
Dice Pool: None
Type: Passive
A protector can’t be everywhere, but with this Boon, it can almost seem like it. When one of their Vigil Brands (Guardian 1) is threatened, and signals the Scion, they may reflexively vanish and move into the Scene that their ward is being threatened instantly. They may drop from the sky, step out of a doorway, or just appear where no one was looking, ready to protect their wards.
Theoretically, this Boon could be used to allow a Scion to move around the world at great speed by intentionally endangering their wards. If they do this, they instantly lose all of their Vigilant points, and become unable to use this Boon for one week per lost point. Additionally, during this week, Fate will see to it that they would have had great need to use this Boon, likely by destroying, or killing one of their loved ones they had Branded somewhere the Scion couldn’t reach.
By using this power to come to the aid of mortals they have Branded, the Scion gains a Vigilant point.
OFFERINGS OF TEARS AND FEAR ●●●●●
Cost: None
Dice Pool: None
Type: Passive
The protectors, the watchers, the guards, and the wardens of the Overworld rarely ever receive a kind prayer. Their names are enacted in times of strife, by a father praying at his son’s sickbeard, by a mother watching her child leave for war, by a child hiding in the woods from a great beast. But, that is what the Protectors of the Pantheons are for. They are the last hope, and normally the only one needed.
In return for playing the role of a Guardian, Fate awards a Demigod with the ability with this Boon to generate Vigilant points by using Boons that say as such, and gain the ability to spend them for benefits.
A Scion may store as many Vigilant points as they have Guardian Ranks.
SHIELD OF MY PEOPLE ●●●●●
Cost: None
Dice Pool: None
Type: Passive
As much as they would like to, it is impossible for a Guardian to protect everyone they wish to, even though many Guardians select a specific portion of the population, or type of building they protect, it is still too much. With this Boon, however, they can almost protect all they wish to.
When a Scion purchases this Boon, they select a group, such as “Women”, “Children”, “Lovers”, “Soldiers”, “Homes with a horseshoe over the door”, or even “People with red hair” which it will protect. From that point on, in a radius equal to one Mile per Dot of Legend they possess, every being or building that is part of this group counts as having a Vigil’s Brand active on them, even if the Scion did not apply one, though these Brands fade if they move out of this radius. Additionally, these ‘phantom Brands’ do not generate Vigilant points when placed, though it will if they protect one of them.
Additionally, all attempts to protect these people and buildings with Guardian Boons is rewarded with an additional Vigilant point.
A Scion may purches this Boon multiple times to gain the effect for multiple groups and types of buildings, though the effects will not stack upon one and other if they overlap, such as if the user had “Soldiers” and “Lovers” and there was a modern revival of the Sacred Band of Thebes present.
THE HOT GATES ●●●●● ●
Cost: None
Dice Pool: Guardian + Academics
Type: Passive
The unnamed Viking on London Bridge, CuChulain at the Ford, brave Leonidas and his warriors at the Hot Gates, the garrison of Rochester Castle, are all individuals who are praised by the more martial of the Guardians and protectors. Brave mortals or Heroes who laid down their lives, the few fighting entire armies, taking advantage of natural bottlenecks.
A Demigod with this Boon can enforce a similar situation, forcing an opposing force, be they four warriors, or an army that outnumbers the grains of sand on earth, to fight at an incredibly unfavorable location, one that entirely removes any advantage of numbers the opposing force has.
This Boon can only be resisted if the General of the opposing force has the War Purview, in which case they may resist this Boon with a War + Academics roll.
Additionally, this Boon does not, as those who are versed in the history of the example events will know, guarantee survival. Even mighty CuChulain was overcome in the end, even if it was due to Divine Interference.
GUARDIAN SPIRITS ●●●●● ●
Cost: None
Dice Pool: None
Type: Passive
Many of the peoples of earth have imagined guardian spirits. Be they helpful Sidhe, returning a kindness performed by a long distant ancestor, a Guardian Angel, or one of the mighty Lammasu protecting the royalty of Babylon, a Guardian Demigod can call forth one of these beings appropriate to their culture, or an entirely new one, to protect another.
When a Scion places a Vigil’s Brand, they may chose to activate this Boon to provide an additional level of protection as a Legendary Being with a Legend rating of the Deities -2 protects their target, either subtily, as a Lammasu, or overtly, as a collection of Leonidas’ Spartans returned to watch over the sleeping child of Hades.
Whenever a Scion uses this Boon to give one of their own children, lover, or any mortal a protector, they gain one Vigilant point.
I WILL HOLD ●●●●● ●●

Type: Passive
At the cusp of their Apotheosis, a Demigod, heavy clad in armor, or protecting their wards through sheer force of will, has far more power to work with than they originally did when they first began to learn the skills of a Guardian. Now, looking back, they learn new ways to control their previous expressions.
Vigil’s Brand: Any child born from a couple who has at least one individual who has a Vigil’s Brand gives the Demigod the option to reflexively place a Vigil’s Brand on the child, no matter the range.
Ward: A building blessed by the Scion now doubles its soak, and all beings guarding it gain +5 dice to Perception.
The Night’s Watch: Mortals instructed by the Scion have skills that far surpass any other mortal could hope, and their Perception + Awareness dice pool changes to 12. Additionally, using this Boon generates two Vigilant points.
My Father’s Shield: All Immunity Boons given away function more powerfully, adding an additional +2 to the bonus.
MY BODY, A SHIELD ●●●●● ●●

Type: Passive
No harm would come to those you have decided to protect if you had your way, but it is not always that easy, or as painless as wishing. Whenever a being they have a Vigil’s Brand active on is harmed, the Scion instantly knows how hurt they are (Out of Character, they know much Damage they have suffered), and may accept the damage themselves for a minor cost, if the seeping wound is not counted. If the being they have accepted damage for is a Mortal, they gain a Vigilant point.
A Scion may not use this Boon to protect Buildings (?) they have marked with Vigil’s Brand.
SAVIOR ●●●●● ●●●

Type: Passive
Always there, guarding the sun, watching over children, cracking the skulls of giants, or carrying the sun across the sky, the true Deities of protection wield great powers of protection. As a reward for continuing to play the role of Guardian in Fate’s grand tale, they gain new ways to spend the Vigilant points they have been amassing.
LOOK TO MY COMING AT FIRST LIGHT ●●●●● ●●●
Cost: None
Dice Pool: None
Type: Passive
In a world of Titans and Pantheons, a single being, even if they are a mighty Deity of Protection, may not be enough to save a being they have marked with Vigil’s Brand. Instead, with this Boon, a Guardian Deity may delay their arrival from being instantaneous, and gather others, or even an entire Pantheon, to come crashing down.
When a being, or location, that has been warded with a Vigil’s Brand informs the Deity that it is in danger, they may chose to use this Boon. When they activate it, they must decide how long it will take them to arrive.
If they chose one hour, they may bring a number of beings with them equal to their Guardian Rank. Two hours gives them one hundred people per Guardian Rank. Three hours, one thousand, and so on exponentially.
These beings are not magically generated however, the Guardian Deity needing to actually get their hands on however many individuals they wish to bring with them, and have them agree, which may take most of the time anyways.
THE GREAT WALL ●●●●● ●●●●
Cost: None
Dice Pool: Guardian + Fortitude
Type: Passive
Continent spanning wildfires, ice ages, earthquakes that crumble continents, these are but some of the dangers that humanity can suffer at the hands of wrathful Deities. In response, a guardian can only do what they have always done; save people.
By constructing a colossal wall, or something as simple as leaving a simple mark, or making a promise, the Deity can render a urban center under their direct protection. Any Boon that would deal population damage, or infrastructural damage to the area that the Scion has warded must overcome the activation role of this Boon to deal any damage at all, and if it does overcome the activation role, twice the Guardian’s Guardian Rank as a percent of the Population and Infrastructure is guaranteed to survive.
MYSTERIOUS WAYS ●●●●● ●●●●
Cost: None.
Dice Pool: None
Type: Passive
Even with all of the tools at their disposal, a Guardian truly can’t be everywhere at once. They can’t save everyone, Fate sees to it, as it finds no fun in someone who can’t fail. One further desperate attempt by the Guardian Gods and Goddesses is this skill, a new way to wield Vigil’s Brand.
Whenever the Deity becomes aware of a Branded person or location in danger, they may chose to activate this Boon to ‘ping’ every being with a Legend Rating in a ten mile Radius per Guardian Boon they possess. Every Legendary Being in this radius immediately becomes aware of the Brand as if they had placed it, and additionally becomes aware of which Deity used this Boon to spread awareness.
How every being responds to this is, ultimately, up to them. But, even the creatures with only base instinct can understand the value the favor of a Deity is, and it is not unreasonable to expect that some, if not many of the beings in the area will set off to find and protect the being.
Using this Boon on a Mortal who is in danger, or one of your own Scions, causes you to generate one Vigilant point.
THE SHEPHERD ●●●●● ●●●●●
Cost: None
Dice Pool: Guardian + Investigation
Type: Passive
Just as much as Guardians stand on the walls looking out, their perches allow them to look in as well. Dangers do not lurk only outside the walls, as any of the experienced protector Deities will tell you, it being juvenile to assume such.
A Guardian Deity with this Boon may activate this Boon to become aware of all internal issues that are currently plaguing their Pantheon. Everything from the most minor spat between Lesser Deities over one Scion insulting another, to plots to assassinate the Pantheon Head. Every issue that is not somehow magically shrouded is instantly found out (though not necessarily understood, in the case of the more Chaotic, or frighteningly intelligent Deities) by the Guardian Deity, and all those that are shrouded are contested with the activation role of this Boon, with the Guardian becoming aware of the general degree of danger the issue has to the Pantheon, if not the conspirators and the goal, if they fail to discover one of these hidden plots.
NONE GREATER ●●●●● ●●●●●
Cost: None
Dice Pool: None
Type: Passive
Some Guardians are not martial behemoths such as Thor, or Set, and are instead political creatures, or beings of intense intelligence, leaving them somewhat of in a weak position to protect their family, wards, or friends in the case of a physical threat.
If this is the case, the Deity may enact this Boon when one of their Vigil Brands (Guardian 1) is threatened, as Fate does believe that all Guardians should be able to, in the least, attempt to protect others, even if it is hopeless. Activating this Boon immediately forces a single target to render their Physical Attributes and Epic Attributes to be equivalent to the Guardian. A target of this Boon does still, however, have all of their Knacks, Relics, and other Purviews to aid them in combat. This lasts until the Scene ends.
If the target uses an Ultimate Expression of one of the Physical Attributes, this effect ends.
