The Goddess of Marriage, and the Goddess that Zeus tried desperately to become his Queen after she initially refused, Hera is a strong and apt ruler of the Gods. Though, as Queen, she always must bow to the decisions that Zeus makes, even if they are more than somewhat questionable. The Goddess, though, truly does love Zeus, and his frequent breaches of their marriage breaks her heart. For her love for Zeus, she can't lash out against him, and instead vengefully hunts his bastards down to ruin their lives or kill them. A fact often forgotten is that Hera wasn't Zeus first wife, actually being his third behind Metis, and Themis.

An interesting idea regarding Hera's rage against Zeus' illegitimate children is to couple it with her love for Zeus. The Theoi know that Zeus is fated to be defeated by one of his own sons, so Hera may be desperately attempting to save her husband from herself. While this interpretation doesn't do much to help the poor Sons of Zeus who are sired against the rage of Hera, it does help provide some context and depth to her works to defeat the Heroes.

Since she is a Goddess of fidelity and marriage, she does not have any half-human children. Instead, she adopts her children, caring for the decedents of hers who are not going to be cared for as well as they should be.
