The Cat Goddess, and Goddess of the Moon, Bastet is one of the older Egyptian Gods, being a daughter of Ra himself. Her cats filled the vital role of protecting the grain of Egypt, for the Nile was one of the most fertile areas in the world, and the amount of grain they produced was colossal. Her cats became as important as they believed themselves to be in time, and a series of legal protections were implemented by mortal man for them.

Just as she protected mortal man, especially the royal families of Egypt, her father kept a watchful eye over her even after she set off on her own, and aided her after she had been bit by a serpent. Her role of protector of the Pharaohs has been made almost redundant without the nation being ruled by any Pharaohs at all, though with the return of the Divine, the Goddess may seek out any lingering survivors of the line.
