The fundamental nature of chaos is to be free from the rules and regulations of society. Those who have chosen to walk this path may shrug off the commands of others. Once per game, the Scion may gain +6 successes to resist supernatural persuasion.

Anyone can randomly act out, but agents of chaos can judge the consequences of their actions beyond those of the immediate and superficial. The Scion proposes an action to the storyteller, who will then explain one of the important consequences of that action. This can be used to gain hints and clues about events she had no idea were connected.

A Scion in touch with chaos instinctively know how to break down order, and this extends to anything she can get her hands upon. She may spend a miscellaneous action to inflict 1 unsoakable lethal damage to any inanimate object she is touching. This boon cannot be used to break down anything with great importance to fate, such as relics or sacred sites.

By calling out someone’s flaws in a dramatic fashion, the Scion plants a seed of doubt that begins to undermine self confidence to dangerous levels. The unfortunate person suffers a cumulative -1 success penalty to every roll they make, until they have made a number of rolls equal to her (Chaos Boons). Someone may only be under the effects of one criticus at a time.

Those who spend time around an agent of Chaos are empowered by fate to stand up for the rights of the underdog, or merely tear the system down. Those around her gain +2 successes on any contested roll or derived value against people in a position of official authority, or supernatural effects created by such people.

Type: Miscellaneous

A true revolutionary knows when her words have taken root in the minds of others, so that they may go forth and change the world in her name. The Scion with this boon knows when others have been influenced by whispered words or rousing speeches. She can instantly identify someone who is under the effects of supernatural compulsion within her line of sight. She does not know who did the influencing beyond what she might assume. This boon lasts for one minute per success on the activation roll.

By allowing a small stream of chaos to push through into her world, the Scion can invite gremlins to step through and share her company. Gremlins possess the Anarchy and Breakdown boons, and they may be asked to perform simple tasks such as pranking, distracting, and other destructive errands until sunset. You may ask them to perform more complex tasks, but they must be paid with a piece of complex machinery they can destroy, or the promise of future aid. For every three successes you gain on your activation roll, you may choose to either summon an additional gremlin or add one day to the time that they will remain to serve you.

By embracing the role of chaos, the Scion becomes an agent of change capable of overthrowing the status quo and throwing a monkey wrench into the plans of the hierarchy. She gains +2 successes to her Integrity as the power of her ideals strengthen, and permanently gains the ability to apply her Mental Defense Value against Justice Boons used by anyone with equal or lower legend than herself. Her true appearance also changes to express her chaotic nature, such as a wild glimmer in her eyes, or hair that flutters even without the wind. At Legend 9 this bonus increases to +4 successes.

Type: Miscellaneous

By announcing a non sequitur or uttering a sentence of gibberish, the Scion is able to create doubt about the very basics of language and communication. The target finds herself unable to make sense of any form of communication, and also unable to communicate effectively back to others. This boon lasts for one minute per success on the activation roll, and even instant translation and language mastery cannot decipher this nonsense.

The Scion introduces a new complication or unexpected twist into the story where none seemed to exist previously. She literally invites some new event to take place, which can range from a sudden attack by Titanspawn, discovering food has been poisoned, or a red herring clue that might lead someone astray. This unexpected event is rarely beneficial to the Scion but can serve as a useful distraction or just create chaos in general.

Type: Reflexive

The greatest criminals and outlaws manage to avoid punishment by ensuring the trail of evidence never leads back to them. Ancient bandits would place red herrings or cover their trail, while modern mobsters could erase credit card records or bribe an officer to conveniently lose evidence. Whenever she is being accused of a crime, the Scion may activate this boon and cause some important piece of evidence that is necessary to prove her guilt to vanish and become misplaced. No amount of mundane searching or supernatural discovery may uncover this evidence unless they beat the activation roll.

By suggesting that someone has reason not to trust their allies, the Scion plants a seed of paranoia that slowly begins to grow until they finally lash out against a trusted friend. The unfortunate person will grow increasingly convinced that their comrades are plotting against them, until they lash out in some harmful way against one of their friends. A trained warrior might use a violent attack, while a skilled politician might resort to public slander. She must decide how many days this paranoia lasts before her target lashes out, from a minimum of one day to a maximum of one day per (Chaos Boon) she possesses. Someone may only be under the effects of one paranoia at a time.

Type: Miscellaneous

Machines of all variety require order to continue functioning. A spinning gear needs a matching gear, and a good lever requires a fulcrum in the correct place. The Scion only needs to touch a machine to introduce a splash of chaos to make the whole device begin breaking down and grinding to a halt. She deals unsoakable lethal damage to the machine equal to the successes on her activation roll. This boon cannot be used to break down anything with great importance to fate, such as relics or sacred sites.

By putting on a rousing performance or giving a speech, the Scion may inspire others to throw caution to the wind and let their inhibitions slip away. Everyone within a radius of 100 yards per (Chaos Boon) will put aside anything they are doing unless their life is being threatened, and indulge in whatever pleasures they prefer. She has no control over what vices the participants might enjoy, but they continue to party for one hour per (Chaos Boon) she possesses. Once this power fades, a large number of people may be confused or ashamed at their actions depending on the culture.

After a few words that promote rebellion or condemn the establishment, the Scion can encourage others to band together and act out against those in authority. She can inspire one person per success on her activation roll to join her in attacking an authority figure (person, organization, monuments) until the end of the scene. They will assist this small rebellion in whatever way they believe will help best; experienced soldiers may take up arms to fight, doctors may attempt to tend your wounded, and children may graffiti some walls. Once this power fades, a large number of people may be confused or ashamed at their actions depending on the culture.

While much of chaos represents overthrowing and changing the social order, there is an element to chaos that changes spiritual nature as well. After chatting with someone for a little while in a way that challenges the beliefs of her target, the Scion may empower her words with a flow of chaos that inspires change in their very soul. They come to discover that they do not hold the same strong ideals they did before, and find themselves drawn to embrace the opposite of everything they held so dear. She chooses a single virtue that the target possesses, which becomes inverted until the end of the story.

The fundamental nature of chaos can be turned upon itself, changing the boundaries of even its own rules. The Scion can transform the very supernatural powers that she has become familiar with into more powerful tools. This boon must be activated as part of a multiple action with certain chaos boons, and enhances those boons in the following ways:

Chaos Theory: The storyteller explains two important consequences of that action, and the Scion can decide one of them which shall not come to pass if she takes action.

Criticus: The Scion bolsters the confidence of someone else with unrealistic praise, and they gain an equal dice bonus instead of a dice penalty.

Butterfly Effect: The Scion compares the activation roll to the MDV of a single person. That person gives everyone else the impression that they are under the effects of supernatural compulsion for the duration of Butterfly Effect.

Babel: The target gets entirely misleading information that seems to make sense, despite being completely wrong. The storyteller determines what the unfortunate person thinks they heard or saw.

A master of chaos may get inside someone's head and completely shatter the boundaries that define who they are, and how they react to the world around them. She opens up an unseen river of chaos that sweeps forth and washes away the identity of one person for every (Chaos Boon) she possess. These cursed souls are reduced to gibbering madness, and become completely incapable of taking any action beyond basic self defense if they are threatened. For every success she gains on the activation roll, this boon curses a Hero for one year, a Demigod for one day, and a God for one minute.

Opening your soul to the flood of Chaos can threaten to wash away every category that defines who you are as a person, and the God who embraces this change cannot be bound to a single identity. She may add her (Chaos Boons) as successes to her Mental Defense Value because of her constantly shifting demeanor, and she may ignore her Vitrues and Fates as she becomes a different person in the eyes of fate. Once this power fades, she takes unsoakable lethal damage equal to her highest virtue as they violently react to being put aside. She may only use one Body type boon at a time.

We give promises to each other every day of our lives, and these serve as the foundation upon which we have built civilization. A god of chaos has long known how to inspire change in someone else, but never before has it been so deep a violation. She must declare a specific promise, vow, oath, or anything similar that she knows the target has made. No matter how emotionally wounding it may be, the target absolutely must break that vow whenever the opportunity presents itself for one day per (Chaos Boon) she possesses.

The Great Chain of Being suggests that all things in the world follow a strict hierarchical structure, and every single link upon that structure has the positive qualities of every lower link upon the great chain. The god with this boon may break down the chain of being, which allows chaos to slowly saturate a domain that stretches ten miles for every (Chaos Boon) she possesses. Within this realm of chaos, the natural order of the world ceases to be true and strange things begin to happen everywhere within her realm. She may also dictate one new rule that is absolute within her domain for every six (Chaos Boons) she possesses. She may declare that all dogs are brilliant chess masters, all weapons only tickle when they strike someone else, or everybody gains flight in complete defiance of the natural order. This boon lasts until she activates it again.

Those in attendance spread the word to others, and those onto even more people, until everyone within one mile per (Chaos Boon) has taken up arms with the singular purpose of overthrowing an authority figure (person, organization, monuments) until the end of the story.

Not even the gods dare to face an incarnate of chaos, unless they wish to emerge from the unseen storm as someone different than who they were before. Countless strange events radiate from the god wherever she goes, transforming cause and effect into nothing more than a daydream. She gains narrative control over the scene unless another god activates their own ultimate in response. She may only use one Body type boon at a time.
