Intelligence

Scions with Epic Intelligence are super geniuses, able to solve almost any problem with the colossal power of their mind. Their knowledge is great, serving as a gigantic database of information and skills for their Pantheons, and Band. They are the philosophers, the inventors, the tacticians, and the wisest of the Divine, bringing their might to bare against the Titans through amazing plans, and step by step instructions to help their less intelligent fellows accomplish them.

These Knacks are taken from Gotham by Night, and will one day fall under the knife as their mechanics are reworked, some Knacks are purged, and some new ones are added.

Logical Thinking Knacks

THINK THIS THROUGH

Cost: 1 Legend

Dice Pool: None

Type: Miscellaneous

Epicly intelligent Scions often have colossal mental walls, minds built like fortresses, but their allies, unfortunately, don't always share this skill with them. A Scion who has this Knack, however, may attempt to help an ally logically think their way through, and around mind-influencing effects by spending a point of Legend and discussing it, in depth or in brief with them. By doing this, the power is rechecked against the target's MDV with an additional bonus equal to the Scion's Epic Intelligence Dots.

This power may only be used if the Scion who can use this Knack knows that an ally has been effected by a power, having this Knack gives no ability to know when these invisible influences have been set into the minds of their fellows.

REFUGE IN LOGIC

Cost: 3 Legend

Dice Pool: None

Type: Miscellaneous

Prerequisite: Think This Through

The mind is a powerful tool, and often for Scions with Epic Intelligence, their mind is the safest place for them, away from the insanity that is the life of every Scion. With this Knack, a Scion can retreat into their mind for a moment and meticulously work their way through a problem. (a 10 Tick action if a Scion does this during a combat) Upon finishing this retreat to find a gentle home in logic and sense that the world seems to be lacking, they may regain a number of points of Willpower equal to their Dots of Epic Intelligence.

Knowledge Knacks

KNOW IT ALL

Cost: 1 Legend

Dice Pool: None

Type: Reflexive

Knowing a seemingly endless amount of likely close to useless pieces of information is the hallmark of many amazingly smart people. But, for Scions with this Knack, the sheer amount of information they just have happened across over their life makes it more likely to come up, and therefore, more often useful. By spending one point of legend, a Scion with this Knack may use their dots of Epic Intelligence as phantom dots to Academics, Command, Investigation, Medicine, Occult, Politics, or Survival instead of their own dots. This benefit lasts for one action or multiple action.

APPLIED ACADEMICS

Cost: None

Dice Pool: None

Type: Persistent

Prerequisite: Know it All

A wealth of information that has been picked up in years, and years of study, a Scion who has this Knack may inherently add their Academics Dots as extra Dice to all Empathy, Occult, or Politics rolls. This Knack is constantly on, and Scions with this Knack can not be denied its power unless something compromises their Academics rating.

AXIOM

Cost: 3 Legend

Dice Pool: Intelligence + Relevant Ability

Type: Miscellaneous

Prerequisite: Applied Academics

Scions with Epic Intelligence can become so colossally powerful in thought that they can make leaps of logic so grand they would put Sun Wukong to shame. If the Scion observes an event happen three times, they may deduce the pattern that is involved in the event, stating it for all the world to hear. The difficulty of making a correct prediction is based off the degree to which the Divine is involved. For ten Successes, they may accurately deduce issues of the Hero tier. For thirty, may accurately deduce things in the Demigod tier. For fifty, they may accurately deduce things in which the Gods themselves have been involved with. After the Scion rolls, the Storyteller must inform them if they are Successful, or, if they failed, that they overlooked something. If they are Successful, the reality of the situation is entirely irrelevant, and the Scion becomes right. Whatever the pattern they stated is now true, and was always true.

This power does not mean that the Scion is able to alter reality with their mind, but a way in which to allow players to represent how amazingly intelligent their characters are. A Scion who uses this Knack does not change the way things have been going on in-universe, but it had always been that way.

Mathematic Mind Knacks

Cost: None

Dice Pool: None

Type: Persistent

Mortal mathematicians, and supercomputers are put to shame when faced with a Scion with this Knack. They are able to solve the most complicated mathematical problems in split seconds, with zero thought on their part. They may glance at a trebuchet, and its ammunition, and be able to detail the exact angle needed to hit a fortress across the valley. They may raise giant stones from the ground with their mastery over Earth, and have them each domed and placed in the perfect positions to allow the Scion to speak with a booming echoing voice.

CIPHER

Cost: None

Dice Pool: None

Type: Persistent

Prerequisite: Math Genius

Passwords, puzzles, codes, and hidden messages are nothing to a Scion with this Knack. VECTOR

Cost: 1 Legend

Dice Pool: Intelligence + Marksmanship

Type: Reflexive

Prerequisite: Cipher

Angles, ballistics, arcing shots, and everything of the sort comes naturally to a Scion with this Knack. Whenever they use a power that would normally strike multiple targets in an area, such as creating a colossal earthquake, collapsing a building on some enemies, or throwing a grenade, they may reflexively use this power in order to instantly calculate the angle at which to have everything occur in order to keep some beings safe from the attack. They may prevent a number of beings equal to their Successes from being harmed by whatever they did.

Divine Comprehension Knacks

MULTITASKING

Cost: None

Dice Pool: None

Type: Persistent

Some Scions are so incredibly intelligent that they can afford to divine their attention without it causing any issue to their processing power. She can write an essay and compose a orchestral piece at the same time, preform a surgery while steering a dragon, or anything of the sort. She can perform multiple actions without the normal -2 success penalty associated with dividing her attention.

SPEED READER

Cost: None

Dice Pool: None

Type: Persistent

Prerequisite: Multitasking

A Scion with this Knack is the king or queen or textual information. Books, ancient tablets, computer pages, any form of written communication is consumed by the Scion like a wildfire through a paper factory. They may read a number of pages per second equal to their Dots in Epic Intelligence.

Learning Knacks

PERFECT MEMORY

LANGUAGE MASTERY

Cost: None

Dice Pool: None

Type: Persistent

Prerequisite: Perfect Memory

The life of a Scion is one of hearing a lot of things they don't understand, and only sometimes because someone is trying to talk to them in ancient Aramaic, Mayan, or Gaelic. But, for those situations, some Scions pick up the ability to learn languages incredibly quickly. Hearing any sentence of a spoken language allows a Scion to immediately know the entire language, although, it does not give them any idea of the culture it comes from unless they try to analyse the language from a linguistic standpoint. They will not understand sayings, or phrases from the language that require some sort of cultural knowledge. Such as saying, "Knock, Knock" when someone enters a room in English, or saying "Shit". All this Knack gives is the ability to understand and speak the words.

INSTANT TRANSLATION

Cost: None

Dice Pool: None

Type: Persistent

Prerequisite: Perfect Memory

Delving ancient temples, and reading scrolls long lost to humanity tends to be the job of the amazingly intelligent Scions, even if the language it is written in is one long lost to humanity. With this Knack, and reading a sentence from a written language, a Scion can instantly comprehend how to read it in its entirety, but not how to speak it. As an example, the Scion could glance at the Linear A tablet, and instantly completely understand it, and be able to explain it to others, but not speak the language.

Divine Tactician Knacks

TACTICAL PLANNING

Cost: None

Dice Pool: None

Type: Persistent

A mind like a General, able to conceive of the best plan of action given the time to see the enemy force, a Scion who possesses this Knack may opt to use their Epic Intelligence rather than their Epic Wits when rolling Join Battle assuming the Scion was not surprised and had a chance to plan out how they should react, which may only be a fraction of a second for a Scion with Epic Intelligence.

PRINCIPLES OF MOTION

Cost: None

Dice Pool: None

Type: Persistent

Prerequisite: Tactical Planning

Reading about combat, and actually being physically capable of engaging another person are two very different things for humans. Someone who spends their life studying medieval European manuscripts regarding halbread fighting styles is not necessarily very capable at doing those things. But, Scions are exceptional in this regard. Through their academic study, a Scion with this Knack is able to piece together how to fight sheerly through their immersion in literature, and their academic study of everything from history to physics. They may add their Dots of Academics as Dice to Brawl, Marksmanship, Melee, and Thrown.

FIGHT WITH YOUR HEAD

Cost: 1 Legend

Dice Pool: None

Type: Miscellaneous

Prerequisite: Principles of Motion

The brilliant mind of a Scion can be turned towards criticism, picking out flaws in even the strongest or most charismatic people. She chooses a single attribute possessed by an opponent, and negates a number of successes equal to her dots of Epic Intelligence. This penalty can reduce derived values when interacting with the Scion, but they remain the same in reference towards anyone else.

ART OF WAR

Cost: 3 Legend

Dice Pool: Intelligence + Command

Type: Miscellaneous

Prerequisite: Fight With Your Head

The great tacticians of the Divine may look out over battlefields and decide how to best use their troops. Scions with this Knack may do this as well, and may help their allies through their intricate planning. In a combat situation, a Scion who has had the time to observe and plan before the combat is able to create a pool of Dice equal to their Successes on the activation roll. These Dice may be handed out to any ally preforming an action that is being in some way guided by the Scion with this Knack, be it an explanation or a barked command. They may never give more Dice to a single action than they have Dots of Epic Intelligence, or their target has Dots of mundane Intelligence, and when the pool is expended, they may use this Knack again to plan once more, as a 10 Tick action.

Wide Reaching Mind Knacks

TELEPATHY

Cost: 1 per target

Dice Pool: None

Type: Miscellaneous

Scions with this Knack may dispense guidance, or conversation, as what the modern world would call telepathy, but the ancients would have seen as contact from the Divine, which are both entirely appropriate understandings of these Knacks. A Scion who uses this power may select a target per point of Legend they wish to spend, and be able to send verbal information to them without speaking. This may feel like the Scion's voice filling their target's head, a subtle guidance like a conscience, though the target knows it is not their own thoughts, or whatever else the Scion wishes to Stunt it as. Targets of this Knack do not gain the ability to send information back.

This effect lasts for the Scene.

WIRELESS INTERFACE

Cost: 1 Legend

Dice Pool: Intelligence + Academics

Type: Miscellaneous

Prerequisite: Telepathy

Machines are susceptible to the powers of the Scion, reaching out and effectively giving the same Divine guidance they can give others in order to use the machine without needing to physically be interfacing with it. They may glance across a room and search a computer's files, though not turn a computer on, as example. They can enter their pin on a card reader without touching it, but can's have it leap from the table. Scions with this power will incur a multiple action penalty if they attempt to interface with multiple machines at once without the Multitasking Knack.

GRANT VISIONS

Cost: 3 Legend

Dice Pool: None

Type: Miscellaneous

Prerequisite: Telepathy

Just as they can whisper in the mind of others, with this power a Scion can fill a target's mind with an image of whatever the Scion wishes. They can use this to attempt to fake a prophetic vision if they are particularly cunning, or to just share a secret compromising photograph as a form of blackmail without revealing which person in the room possess it. Each person the Scion wishes to share images with costs three Legend.

REMOTE CONTROL

Cost: 1 Legend per target

Dice Pool: None

Type: Persistent

Prerequisite: Wireless Interface

As they can send and receive information from machines, Scions with this Knack may take total control of machines in their vicinity. Any machine they can see is an eligible target, and upon paying the cost, the Scion may take total control of them, having them act in any way they would normally be able to. They could cause a fleet of bulldozers to stamped down the street, cause a bank vault to close itself and lock with its pneumatic locking mechanism, or cause a bomb to just explode. They may only control one machine at a time, but machines do not have any innate resistance to this power unless it is a special circumstance, such as attempting to control Talos, who may not even be a machine, depending on the individual Storyteller's interpretation of the bronze giant.

Divine Thinking Knacks

WELL READ VIRGIN

Cost: None

Dice Pool: None

Type: Persistent

A skilled researcher, no matter the subject, a Scion who possesses this Knack may never be limited by their lack of knowledge in an area when researching it. CONCEPT TO EXECUTION

Cost: None

Dice Pool: None

Type: None

Prerequisite: Well Read Virgin

The dreamers, and tinkers of the Gods are not always masters of Artistry. Some Scions just inherently understand the process in which to create items of magic, understanding the alien and illogical concepts of forging magical swords by quenching them in the blood of five men born in thirteen different seasons, and stranger concepts. Scions who possess this Knack may create Relics as if they had the Artistry Purview.
