The bravest of the Aesir, Tyr offered up his hand to Fenrir as part of the Allfather's trap. Even the great Thor and the ever vigilant Heimdall were too frightened of the colossal wolf to feed it, let alone place their hand in the wolf's maw.

Dusty academics have suggested that Tyr may have, once upon a time, have been the Allfather of the Aesir. Just as the Norse were slowly changing to favor Thor above Odin, Odin's worship may have usurped Tyr's in the past. However, the Aesir can not remember such a time. Whether this is due to the theory being incorrect, due to Fate, or due to some sort of machination on Odin's part, no one knows. Possibly the maiming Tyr suffered through Odin's plot had something to do with the transference of power. No matter the truth, Tyr does not seek to reclaim a throne he may have once held. He simply serves as a warrior of Asgard, and the bravest of them all.

Despite this great bravery, however, Tyr will in time perish. Garm, the guard dog of Hel will meet Tyr upon the fields outside Asgard during the Final Battle. Just like many of the Aesir, this is a fight that Tyr will never return from.
