Family Tree
The Great Gods of the Mesopotamian empires; the Sumerians, Akkadians, and Babylonians, claiming to be the original Gods, the very first true Pantheon. The Anunna tend to see all the others as young cousins doing a very admirable job at being a Pantheon, limited by the greatest flaw: they are not Anunna themselves.
The Great Gods mostly ignore the world, and have done so for the last many thousands of years, preferring to spend their time in the upper heavens, only giving a momentary thought as to why the offerings have stop being placed in their Ziggurats. The Anunna are boisterous, brave, and positive in the power of justice, order, and civilization against the chaos and monstrosities of the world.
Virtues: Conviction, Courage, Order, Piety
Enki - God of Fresh Water, and king of his people before Great Marduk, Enki wears the mantle of trickster, and even with his occasional disruptions, is generally well liked by his Pantheon.
Marduk - the greatest King of all the Pantheons, as he frequently informs anyone who may be listening. He is the God who slew Tiamat single-handedly, lead his Pantheons against her army, took the Tablets of Destinies from her general, and was justly rewarded with leadership of the Anunna.
Shamash - God of the Sun, and judge of the dead, Shamash watches over the world for injustices. He is the dominant ocular God of his Pantheon and even though the great powers of Me may not touch Fate, he is still one of the greatest Prophets known to any of the Divine.
Enlil - another of the ancient kings of the Anunna before the time of Great Marduk, Enlil flooded the world to silence humanity only to have his plan thwarted by his brother Enki.
Nergal - a terrible God of Plagues, Death, and the Sweltering heat of the sun who insulted Ereshkigal's servant and tried to flee the Underworld when he had to enter to apologize to the Goddess. The badly mannered God now serves as her consort in the depressing depths of the world.
Sin - the distant Lunar God of the Anunna, and father of many of their Great Gods; Sin is the judge of the dead alongside his solar son. He is known to be a kind figure, or as kind as you tend to get with Gods.
Ereshkigal - the terrible Queen of the Underworld, who lords over the hollow dead of her land. She demands the rules of her land be followed, and that none leave, not even her decided first husband, unless a replacement is given. And even that exception is only in the most bizarre of circumstances.
Ninhursag - the Lady of the Mountain, and preeminent mother Goddess of the Anunna. She created humanity when the Lesser Gods attempted to rebel against the Greater Gods due to being tired of acting as slaves and servants.
Tammuz - a simple God of Shepherds, Tammuz is bound away in the Underworld for half of the year to take the place of his wife Ishtar, punished for not being as distraught as his wife believed was appropriate for her being effectively dead. For the other half of the year, he is allowed to walk the world as his sister takes his place. What this means for his marriage isn't talked about in polite company.
Ishtar - the beautiful Goddess of Sex, War, and Fertility is one of the larger than life members of the Anunna, getting her way through threats (such as destroying the gate of the Underworld) to run of the mill trickery.
Ninurta - the great warrior of the Anunna, setting himself against the horrible beasts and combating them with his lightning, even taking one such defeated creature to draw his personal chariot.
