0.1 M PBS buffer

• 1. Combine the following

     • 10.9 g Na2HPO4 (anhydrous sodium phosphate dibasic)

     • 3.2 g NaH2P04 (anhydrous sodium phosphate monobasic)

     • 90 g NaCl (sodium chloride)

  2. Dissolve all of the above in 1 L distilled water

  3. Adjust the pH to 7.4

Why make this?

We use this buffer to isolate epiphytic microbes from plant leaves. It is an isotonic buffer that 'most' cells do well in.
