Here is Frank's summary of what we have in the freezer so far:
I have three more vials at the back of my freezer if you want to put them in the -80 whenever it’s convenient. I don’t anticipate having anything else for at least a month.
Including these, here is an inventory of what I have given you so far (this list is mainly for me to keep track):
1) A few thousand live-frozen beetles from each of the three reversion lines (L1R – 3R) when they had been back on mung bean for 35 generations.
2) A few thousand live-frozen beetles from each of the original lentil lines (L1-3) at the same time, i.e., at the time of the 35-generation lentil-performance assay comparing the reverted vs. non-reverted lines. The lentil lines had spent about 75-90 generations on lentil (as listed on the vials).
3) Several thousand live-frozen beetles from the ancestral mung-bean line at the time that others were used to start a new lentil line (L4).
4) A few thousand beetles that were the actual parents of the L4 line (about 3000 of the 6000 parents used in two cultures). These were dead for only 4-6 days at the time of freezing.
5) Several thousand beetles (two vials) from the ancestral mung-bean line at the time of the formation of the pea lines (derived at the same time and from the same cultures used to form the pea lines).
6) A mixture of live-frozen and recently dead (<2 weeks) beetles that represented just the second generation to emerge from the P1 and P2 pea lines.
