31v17. We are using the growth chambers in BNR 120 and 124 for this project. They are now set to constant 27C. The lights come on at 7am and turn off at 9pm (14 hrs of light, 10 hrs of no light). We will have flats of alfalfa at the bottom of the growth chambers to maintain high humidity. We will probably use the one in 124 for oviposition, and the one in 120 for larval rearing.
1vi17. The middle of the chamber still feels cold for egg laying, so we changed to daytime temp: 30C, nighttime temp: 27C, 14hr light / 10hr dark.
5vi17. We decided the growth chambers are not ideal for egg laying because of the humidity (there was condensation inside the cup) and the lights are not as intense. So, we will leave the growth chambers at 27C, 14/10 for the larvae.
