Kaua e rangiruatia te hāpai o te hoe; e kore tō tātou waka e ū ki uta.
Do not lift the paddle out of unison or our canoe will never reach the shore.
Technology is about creativity and innovation. It is about how we intervene with our world using design, and how our world intervenes with, influences, and changes (even designs) us.
Technology learning is about gaining a deep insight into our world, being analytical and accountable for the decisions we make as we intervene, asking always, “if we can do something, should we?”

This course aims to promote students' independent design, research and construction skills. Students will be encouraged to be innovative, creative and resourceful when developing a design for a client. They will need to create complex designs and use a number of procedures and processes over the year.
In this course you will learn how to manipulate and use computer numerical controlled machines, such as laser cutter, cnc router or 3D printer to produce a range of high quality products.
Some previous examples of designs created by students have been CNC machined coasters, personal projects such as desks using Japanese joints, coffee table and seating.
Your work will be assessed through two internal achievement standards and an external achievement standard.
Standard AS91344 - Implement advanced procedures using resistant materials to make a specified product with special features (internal)
Standard AS91351 - Implement advanced procedures to process a specified product (internal)
Standard AS91355 - Select and use planning tools to manage the development of an outcome (internal)
Standard AS91358 - Demonstrate understanding of how technological modelling supports risk management (external)
