Kei hopu tōu ringa ki te aka tāepa, engari kia mau ki te aka matua.
Mathematics is the exploration and use of patterns and relationships in quantities, space, and time. Statistics is the exploration and use of patterns and relationships in data. These two disciplines are related but different ways of thinking and of solving problems. Both equip students with effective means for investigating, interpreting, explaining, and making sense of the world in which they live.

This course will enable you to gain the Numeracy Co-requisite standard, completing Year 12 Statistics standards to gain the Numeracy (10 credits).
You will develop a mathematical approach to solving a variety of problems. This will include learning a wide variety of statistical analysis, skills and techniques to solve a range of real world problems.
You will work with spreadsheets to create and manage budgets. You will learn to simulate business portfolios and investment options. You will also look at different banking systems and investment options such as the stock markets.
A significant part of the course is developing skills of different statistical techniques by applying maths in different areas as well as developing logical thinking.
Your work will have the opportunity to be assessed through internal achievement standards.
