Integrated Science provides students with a range of scientific skills and the opportunity to cover a sample of Environmental Science, Biology, Chemistry and Physics internal standards. Through practical investigations, research, collaborative activities and individual assessments, students will develop an understanding of key scientific concepts and theories. This helps develop appreciation of the scientific method and application of knowledge to real-world issues and current events.
In this course you will learn about a range of science ideas and skills, many of them related directly to real-world issues.
The exact nature of your course will depend upon what other subjects you take.
If your only Science is Integrated Science, then you will study four topics as a class (one taken from each of Environmental Science, Biology, Chemistry and Physics) and one additional topic (related to your interest).
If you are also studying another Science subject, then your programme will be modified to reflect this. If you take Integrated Science and Biology for example, then you will study three topics with the whole class (taken from Environmental Science, Chemistry and Physics) and two further standards from this group.
Your work will be assessed through five standards taken from Environmental Science, Biology, Chemistry and Phyiscs internal achievement standards.
Standard AS91187 - Salt water intrusion (internal)
Standard AS91188 - Climate change (internal)
Standard AS91153 - Cell osmosis
Standard AS91155 - Animal diversity
Standard AS91163 - Chemistry used in the development of a current technology (internal)
Standard AS91167 - Oxidation-reduction (internal)
Standard AS91168 - Physics investigation: non-linear mathematical relationship (internal)
Standard AS91172 - Atomic and nuclear physics (internal)
