The Careers Academy Future Ready course will give ākonga, students, an introduction to the world of work and valuable life skills.
Work Ready Tikanga for ihotāngaengae (managing self) and Te Ao Mahi (the world of work) are the big ideas for this course. These future ready life skills will develop the ability of ākonga (students) to be self-regulating, skilled learners who grow in confidence and the understanding of what the characteristics are of a great employee. For ākonga (students) to understand how they fit into the world of work, they first must have an understanding of their strengths, values, preferences and interests. All ākonga (students) have open ended potential and this course helps them to recognise this.
The course is split into two parts.
Firstly, All About Me - Managing Myself - Ihōtangaengae: which covers
Personal skills and strengths
Managing money
Being safe online and in the Community
And Getting Ready for the World of Work - Te Ao Mahi: which covers
