Kei hopu tōu ringa ki te aka tāepa, engari kia mau ki te aka matua.
Mathematics is the exploration and use of patterns and relationships in quantities, space, and time. Statistics is the exploration and use of patterns and relationships in data. These two disciplines are related but different ways of thinking and of solving problems. Both equip students with effective means for investigating, interpreting, explaining, and making sense of the world in which they live.
This course offers a combination of both internal and external credits
This course is University approved
Course endorsement available

This course is a precursor to Applied Statistics at University, which is connected to many areas of study.
The topics covered include:
Statistics
Probability
Mathematical modelling
Students will develop the mathematical skills needed for tertiary study in areas such as Biological Science, Social Sciences and Commerce. The course will enhance students' confidence in the application of mathematical concepts in real life problems.
Your work will have the opportunity to be assessed through internal achievement standards and external achievement standards.
Standard AS91580 - Time Series (internal)
Standard AS91581 - Bivariate Data (internal)
Standard AS91582 - Inference (internal)
Standard AS91583 - Experiments (internal)
Standard AS91585 - Probability Concepts (external)
Standard AS91586 - Probability Distributions (external -optional)
