Year 13 Physical Activity & Sports Studies

This course is designed for those who enjoy being physically active and have a strong interest in learning about sport and wellbeing. This course will involve a variety of sporting and physical activity contexts to allow students to learn in, through and about movement.

In this course students will maximise learning through doing. Students will study the principles of exercise and sport through an interactive and experiential manner. Students will develop academic knowledge and skills to improve personal wellbeing and sporting performance.

Students will learn through movement and be expected to be active participants in the practical lessons, as well as theory lessons. 

Your work will be assessed through both practical and written internal achievement standards. 

• Standard AS91501 - Demonstrate performance in a physical activity (internal)

• Standard AS91498 - Evaluate physical activity experiences to devise strategies for lifelong well-being 

• Standard US30447 - Demonstrate basic knowledge of anatomical structures and physiological responses to exercise (internal)

• Standard US31386 - Demonstrate knowledge of the role and responsibilities of sports officials (internal)

• Standard US30636 - Demonstrate knowledge of the human body and its movement during exercise and stretching
