The social sciences learning area is about how societies work and how people can participate as critical, active, informed, and responsible citizens. Contexts are drawn from the past, present, and future and from places within and beyond New Zealand.

Level 2 Tourism introduces students to the innovative tourism industry, the future of tourism and key attractions, activities and events in New Zealand and around the world. They will learn key skills to plan their own future travels.
In this course you will learn the skills and knowledge required to work in the tourism industry.
Students will hear from leading people in the industry and complete internal booklets that guides students through key areas of Tourism.
Your work will be assessed internally assessed standards.
Standard US24724 - Demonstrate knowledge of the History of Tourism (internal)
Standard US24728 - Demonstration knowledge of work role in Tourism (internal)
Standard US24729 - Demonstrate knowledge of world tourist destinations (internal)
Standard US24731 - Demonstrate knowledge of destination New Zealand (internal)
Standard US24732 - Demonstrate knowledge of tourist characteristics and needs (internal)
There may also be the opportunity of doing additional standards.
