Physics is the study of the fundamental laws governing our world. By investigating the interactions of matter and energy, physicists aim to comprehend the natural world - from the tiniest subatomic particles to the vast expanse of the universe.
As well as serving as a foundation for many of scientific disciplines, physics is important for its applications to many careers, including (but not limited to):
Engineering
Health and medical fields
Trades
Sports science
Music and sound engineering
Electronics
Aviation
In this course you will build on the foundation of Yr 12 physics to gain a detailed understanding of key concepts in physics, in areas of waves, mechanics and electricity. You will use your skills to solve practical problems, and will have a better appreciation for the role of physics in the world around us.
You will take a hands-on approach to investigate more complex physics concepts and relationships in areas such as mechanics, electricity and waves.
Your work will be assessed through one internal achievement standard and three external achievement standards. You will also have the choice of doing two optional internal achievement standards.
Standard AS91521 - Testing a Physics Theory (internal)
Standard AS91522 - Application of Physics - optional (internal)
Standard AS91523 - Wave Systems (external)
Standard AS91524 - Mechanical Systems (external)
Standard AS91525 - Modern Physics - optional (internal)
Standard AS91526 - Electrical Systems (external)
