Introduction:
Learning Outcomes:
Education is the key to success. This means in order to be successful most individuals will have to learn a trade or skill. Usually, this specialized education comes after secondary school from a four-year institution, community college, and/or trade school. All these forms of school fall underneath the category of post-secondary schooling. It is important to understand that Americans with post-secondary schooling tend to make a lot more money than regular individuals with an
that holds high-school.
At the end of this lesson, readers will be able to:
Explain the importance of post-secondary education
Explain the disparity between minority communities and non-minority communities attending college.
Describe the outcome education can have on the economy
Reasons College should be free!
Knowledge is Power!
Knowledge empowers people to believe that they can turn any weakness into strengths. Education gives them resources and tools to come up with ideas to understand problems!
Shape a better society!
The definition of society is the aggregate of people living together in an ordered community. In order to achieve this goal, we need people that have the sense of being able to figure out certain situations of life, rather than just letting the street life suck them to get out of their situation.
Prosperous Life!
The meaning of having a prosperous life is being able to have resources to help or continue to find your purpose in life and fulfilling that goal.
Equal Opportunities!
Members of minority groups find it harder to find a way to college because of the simple fact of funds. College should be free to allow all Americans and citizens of this country a fair chance at life.
Getting to know Ms. Holiday!
Joining us to furthermore discuss this intriguing phenomenon, welcome Ms. Holiday! Ms. Holiday is a former 12th grade English teacher for Forsyth County Public schools in North Carolina. Her most recent work before retirement was a high school guidance counselor, college admissions counselor, and work in the central office of Henrico County Public Schools making decisions to better the county.
The Interview!!
Why is postsecondary education important?
Is there really a gap between different ethnic groups attending college?
Can post-secondary education help the economy?
Ms. Holiday said, "Education is the key to success. Students understand that college is important, but the question is how are they going to get there and afford it. Now that we have a pandemic the number of people not going to college increase because not only of the fear of getting a true college experience, but the pandemic has cost people jobs, empty saving accounts, and leaving families wondering where the next meal is coming from.

Ms. Holiday said, "Truth be told there is a major disparity between different groups ethically. Most black people can't afford to change the stigma behind the race of going to college or being college dropouts and it is all based on the price. America won't admit that generational wealth is created and tends to stick around because of education.
(Lynda Holiday, Personal Communication, Feb 7, 2021)
Ms. Holiday said, "It has been stated that a country's economic success is derived as more educated workers are increased. Educated workers are thought to have more literacy and critical thinking skills which help them carry out more tasks efficiently.

Conclusion
I have learned a lot during my research process and interview with Ms. Holiday! I have learned that education is important not only to give people a chance at life but for financial stability. Also, many people have great thoughts but don't have any resources to make them come to fruition. Although I focused my research on the general the long term effects of this pandemic is unimaginable, free college would benefit many Americans right now and ultimately would boost the economy in about five years. A phenomenon like this is not going to happen in a year but can be done.
