What I Know:
I know how to work individually and as a team. These are skills I developed growing up on a swim team. I know how important it is to understand that all students are not comfortable with speaking in class, that's why I want my classroom to be a place where we don't judge and accept everyone. I know some students learn quicker than others and vice versa. It is my goal to make sure everyone learns everything they are supposed to no matter how many questions need to be asked and how much help a student might need. Being a Psychology major, I know how important mental health is and I will be open to helping my students in any way I can with these personal problems they are facing. I am aware of how hard it is to have teachers that do not understand that life happens and we face challenges that sometimes we don't always expect to. I also know students have lives outside of school and I will do my best to be understanding of that and not overwhelm them with things that I couldn't handle as a student.
What I Have To Learn:
I need to learn more about effectively displaying inclusivity for everyone. We are in a time now where it is extremely important to make sure we are all educated on making sure everyone feels safe and welcome in our classrooms. I need to learn how to accustom my teaching style so it fits all of my student's needs. I need to learn how to know when it's time to be serious with my students and when there is time for fun. Patience is also something I need to get better at. I need to learn time management in order to plan my lessons out accordingly. I also need to learn to be in touch with the parents of my students if I have any concerns regarding my students well-being.
The Teacher I Will Become:
The teacher who any student can count on, no matter who they are. I want to be a teacher who is willing to stay after school to make sure my student's understand what we're learning. The teacher who makes class fun. The teacher who incorporates the real world into her lessons. The teacher who will make sure my student's leave as open-minded, creative, and independent students. The teacher who teaches Existentialism. I want my student's to feel free and derive their personal meaning. All students deserve a teacher who is reliable, fun, and easy to work with.
