The question who am I makes me stop and think about who exactly am I. I'm Demya, no worries if you got it wrong your not the only one (Duh-my-uh). I am a current sophomore at Old Dominion University from Richmond VA. Prior to the 9th grade, I use to always say I was going to be everything but a teacher, but by 9th grade, I was extremely sure I wanted to become a teacher but I was unsure of which level I wanted to teach. It wasn't until the 11th grade when I knew I wanted to teach toddlers and preschoolers. This came about due to my godbrother who attended an academy and would say stuff and know stuff at such a young age that I didn't think he knew anything about. This made me realize that the most important years of your life are when you're young. I also currently work at an Academy here in Richmond with the smartest group of toddlers I've ever met.

So far in the education world the most important thing to me that I have learned is that every child learns at their own rate. I learned this when I became the lead teacher in the class at my job I learned how to do lesson plans that suit my level of students which is the age of 2 and younger. It is okay if you have a student or two who fall behind in the lesson definitely at the age of 2 and 3 everything is very repetitive and it takes a lot of patience.
I honestly believe I have so much to learn about the world of teaching. I believe that my strong passion to become a teacher is a reason why I'm so open to learning so much about how to not only become a teacher but to be a good teacher. I will challenge myself to grow as a person by taking everything that I learned and applying it to my teaching lifestyle to see if it has an effect on my students to insure what i learned is working.
I believe the purpose of school is not only to educate but also to prepare the students for the real world and to lead them on a path towards life. The most important thing my students will learn is that life full of making mistakes it's all about how you recover from those mistakes. They will learn this through making mistakes. I plan to teach a younger group of students and I'm sure they'll make a mistake from big or small but the matter of them learning from it is what will matter the most. I want to be sure to make class fun and informational. I will interact with them through songs, games, and different fun activities which will also include them interacting with each other. If a visitor was to walk into my class they probably would want to stay and learn it will be so many interactive things and so much bright colors.

I am so impressed with your your attention to detail on your page. I agree that the classroom should be interactive so that the students can interact with each other as well as their teacher. I also think it is amazing that you were able to realize from your godbrother just how knowledgeable young children can be. -Shonna Roberts
Hey Demya! You look exactly the same in your baby picture and your current picture. I really enjoyed your page and learning more about you!- Cameron Webster
I Love your page, and your door is very cute!! I can understand the feeling of uncertainty about what you want to do, I glad that you choose to be a teacher- Amber Blount
Demya,
I love the fact that you will make teaching and learning as fun as possbile for the kids with songs, games and activities. I am sure that not only will the kids love that, but the parents will too! -Brooke Hamilton
Hi Demya! First off, your page is so pretty! I love the space theme and the backgrounds! I also love that you knew that you wanted to become a teacher before graduation. I still had no idea! I also love how you said that you were going to implement songs, games, etc. with your student's learning. I am planning the same thing. In my experience, young students love to act, sing, and dance. I am getting my minor in dance, but I plan to implement those things into my lessons. I hope you have a great semester!-Michelle Jamison
