Who am I?
I was born and raised in Chesapeake, Virginia. I grew up with my mom and dad, and I had two siblings: one older brother, and one older sister. I did not always know I wanted to be a teacher, but as I grew older I realized how happy I was in a classroom and I decided to listen to that feeling and pursue teaching. My drive to teach comes from a love of helping and interacting with people. I did not always love being in school myself so I am excited to be able to create a safe and comfortable learning environment for my future students.
Facts about me:
I love to go thrift shopping, it is my favorite thing to do to relax after a hard week. How fun is it to get some retail therapy and not hurt your bank account!
I really love movies, Books, and anime. I love analyzing and learning about stories in every form, its like an escape from reality. Anime is probably my favorite form, and studio Ghibli movies are my comfort movies for sure!
I love being in nature. I find it so calming and relaxing so any chance I get to be out side I take. Going to a park to do schoolwork and read is a great way to spend a day for me!
What I know.
Being a teacher is not easy, I have always respected the work that my past teachers have put in to help us learn. One reason I am looking forward to being a teacher is to be able to run a classroom the way I would have loved to have experienced as a student. School can be scary for students and even teachers, and most people think of it as something they want to avoid at all costs. I would hope that I could influence the people around me to always lead with kindness and compassion for the people around you. I hope that I can teach my students to fight for what they believe in, and to think for themselves. Open mindedness is a wonderful thing that keeps people from missing out on something or someone they might really like because of societal norms. I hope that I can have fun and teach important lessons at the same time!
What I have to learn.
As a young person, I know some of the things I hope to do now will change and morph into something that will best fit my teaching style. I think as someone in the beginning of her teaching career, experience is something we all lack at this stage. I can only study and prepare so much, but until I have done my first year of teaching, I feel like I still have everything to learn. Even then this field is always offering new perspectives on how we can teach our students, so I think the biggest lesson I will need to learn is to stay flexible and open to any and all of my students needs.
The teacher I will become.
When I can finally become a teacher I hope that I am able to create a classroom that students to not dread going to. I want to enjoy my time in school as much as they do. I hope that I am teacher people know will stick up for them and help them with anything I can. I do not want to be a place of anxiety or stress for students. I want to be a teacher who listens and does not judge. Life is already hard, and my classroom should not make it that much harder. I hope my students can feel at ease and comfortable enough to learn what I am trying to teach. I hope that my students can get along with each other and encourage one another's personal growth while learning to value teamwork. I hope I can lead my classroom with kindness and gentleness while teaching efficiently.
