Who am I?
Hi there! My name is Annaleah Tulensru but I prefer to go by Annie. I am a sophomore and my major is Elementary Education. I don't know what grade level I want to teach but I am leaning towards 2nd or 5th grade. My mom is in the military so I moved the majority of my life. I am Pacific Islander and originally from Guam. When I was nine years old, I moved from Guam to Chesapeake Virginia, and have since called it home. I am the middle child in my family with an older sister and younger brother. My family always has my back no matter what I do in life. I am a very down to earth person and enjoy being outdoors. I love the beach and being able to watch sunrises. I am a nerd for anime and enjoy playing volleyball in my free time!

My parents are my biggest inspiration; my mom has worked so hard as a single parent to make sure my siblings and I are happy. She is the type of person I aspire to be as I continue my college career. My dad never got the chance to go to college. I want to finish school and work my hardest to get the education he was not able to get.

I know I am not the smartest person in the world but I have much to learn! I know that society has standards and unrealistic expectations of how people should look, dress, and behave. I know that the world is changing right before my eyes and I haven't blinked yet. I want to teach my students to break the social norm and do what they believe in.

I need to learn how to adjust to my students learning styles; I want to be able to accommodate to every individual I teach. I need to work on my time management skills. I have a bad habit in procrastination and waiting until the last minute to get things done. I need to learn how I can be patient and deal with problems head on rather than avoid them. I believe by working on myself and what I need to do I will become the best educator I can be!

I will teach my students that it is okay to be different in a world that is constantly hovering over you. I want to be able to make a difference in this world. My main goal in my teaching career is to help children be open-minded about the world and education. I want to help my kids learn about the good in the crazy world and guide them towards their passion. I know that I will help students who struggle to navigate in education. I will be their Captain guiding them to success.
