Who am I?
Hello there, as you read in the page title my name is Dylan Parrish. I am studying to become a history teacher and would like to teach High school level United States history. I am from Chesapeake Virginia and have lived here my entire life. What has led me down the path to where I am now has been a long and winding road. I have faced many ups and downs in my life that have shaped me to be the person I am today.
As a child I always had a fascination in history. In fact one of my favorite channels to watch was always the history channel. From an early age I realized I also love helping people, and I have always wanted to be the best person I could be. It wasn't until recently that I put the two together and realized what i wanted to do continuing on with my life, as I just switched to this path right before this current semester.
What I Know.
Some things I live by are what I would want to spread to the world. I think that life is a blessing that shouldn't be taken for granted, the fact that anyone is here on earth are about 1 in 4 trillion! I think that kindness and love are the best way to move someone, and to really inspire and help someone.
I know that life can get hard sometime, as I have been in some pretty low places in my life, but sometimes you just have to grab life by the horns and hold on for the ride because theres always another side of the tunnel.
What i have to learn.
I just like everyone else knows that no one is perfect. I have my setbacks that I need to learn and overcome before i can excel. Some things i need to learn are to become more self reliant. Some things that I need to work on are becoming more organized, staying on top of things in my life, and my number one thing is to stop procrastinating.
The teacher I will become.
I hope to become the teacher that students look foreward to having. I want my classes to be fun and not as stressful as some classes can be. I want students to feel accepted no matter what, and that they are always welcome no matter the circumstances.

Hi Dylan! History is a wonderful subject to teach especially teaching students how the country started and came to be. I too believe that life should be lived to the fullest. Keep that energy up when it comes to teaching and relaying that message to your students. The possibilities are endless for high school students and guiding them along the way to the next step in their academic career is a challenging and rewarding experience.- Desiree Tomasi
Hi Dylan! I like your page, especially all your bitmojis. I am studying to be an elementary education major but actually was very stuck between that and teaching high school world history! It was super hard for me to choose and still sometimes think I will eventually end up there. - Kayla Fredette
