My name is K Holloway! I was born in Williamsburg, Virginia. I've lived there for about 4 years before officially moving to Newport News, Virginia, where I would be spending the majority of my life. I am the first born in my family, making me the oldest sibling out of a total of three kids.
If there is one thing that everyone should know about me, it is that I am a very curious person who loves learning new information! I not only have a passion for learning but a passion for educating. From a young age, I knew that I wanted to be an educator and I am fulfilling that dream as I am in my third year of college, majoring in elementary education with a concentration in the grades PK-6th grade.
Outside of academics, my interests include pop culture. I am a big fan of all things Marvel, especially if it's Spider-man! I also love anime and collect a bunch of little trinkets.
I am a bookworm as well. My favorite genre to read is fiction simply because I enjoy putting myself in the shoes of the characters. I also enjoy reading manga (pictured is my collection that is growing little by little.)
I am aware that everyone is different. No two people are the same so some students will need special care and assistance in comparison to their peers. With diversity being a factor, I know how to make the classroom setting feel inclusive for all! As stated previously, I am a curious person who loves learning so I am open to educating myself on different cultures and religions if it will benefit my class.
The main thing that I am trying to learn currently is how to teach and assist the students in a virtual education setting. After being taught physically in the classroom for 12+ years, virtual learning is something I, as well as many others, are new to. There are so many obstacles to face and new resources to find but of course, I am willing to tough it out and try my best!
I aspire to be the teacher that my students are excited to see each day! My intentions will be to not only teach the students the provided curriculum but to also show them the multiple life skills that they can apply each day.
I really enjoyed this TED talk and it helped me get some insight of what makes a good teacher!
I enjoyed your author page! Glad to see I am not the only Marvel fan in the class! My daughter and I watch Marvel movies all the time. I love your passion and hope you keep that passion for learning and teaching! - Kristine T.
Hi K! I, too, need to learn how teach virtually as I've always been taught in person so this is something new! I love how you always knew you had a passion for teaching and stuck with it! - Kendall Cornejo
Hello K! I loved reading and going through your page. Everything just flows so smoothly and is full of information. I love your passion for teaching and the things you stand for when you become a teacher. I also love you you touched on the topic of diversity because that is a big thing in education I feel for a lot of teachers it's hard to make all students feel included. You are going to make a great teacher and I hope you keep your passion for it throughout your years! -Nijeeia Farland
