Who I am?
Hello:) my name is Brittany DeLeon and I am a sophmore majoring in Elementary Education. My teaching area includes anywhere from K-5 and I'd be happy to teach students of any age! If I had to choose I would prefer 1st or 2nd grade!
I would safely say I am the woman I am today specifically because of my mom. My single mom raising three kids embedded what it meant to be a strong independent woman. She is the inspiration for my ambition. Another reason I am the person I am today is because of my long relationship with soccer. I have been playing since I was four years old and it has taught me some of my biggest life lessons. Playing this sport showed me how to think quickly, how to work with others, be a leader and to give 100% effort in everything I do. I have been able to take what I have learned on the field and apply it to real life.
What I know?
What I know is that we need change in this world. We need teachers coming in who are not going to allow the system to fail children any longer. We can make the difference we need to see! What I know is I am going to be the change I want to see and each of us must do our part. In this day and age, comfort and safety in the classroom is extremely important.
Teachers play a big influence and impression on their students. The most important thing I want my students to take away is how to treat others with kindness and respect. I know that it needs to be more socially aceptable to acknowledge that we are all different and that it is beautiful!
What I have to learn?
I have a long ways to go in regards to what else I will need to know and I will never stop learning and trying to become a better teacher. There is always more room for improvement and you should never be too comfortable staying where you are at! The world changes everyday as the need for us to adapt along with it. I have decided for myself that the only person holding me back is myself! I will challenge myself to grow and find my confidence. I am learning to believe in myself and I will continue to learn how to trust myself more everyday. A good teacher can not be uncertain or doubtful. I will continue to strive to be the teacher I want to be by working hard and staying focused on my goals.
The Teacher I Want To Become...
It is my goal to be the kind of teacher who values the opinion of their students. This will help determine what works best for them. My intention will be to build a sense of trust and comforability within my classroom yet provide structure. Most of my teachers throughout my time mainly focused on talking in front of the class but if someone entered my classroom they would see engaging conversation and others sharing!
Leave me any comments or jokes below :)
Hey Brittany! We have a lot in common from single moms, playing soccer, and believing we need fresh teachers! I believe that your page and your passion for teaching are remarkable! Nice to learn more about you- Cameron Webster
