My name is Michelle Jamison and I am 29 years old. My passions are teaching and dance. Growing up, my mom was a kindergarten teacher and I was a ballerina. So, these two things is what inspires me to live my dream.
I know that children need a safe place to be themselves and I also know that art activities such as dance, theatre, drawing, or coloring will help children be their best. The other thing that I know is that I aspire to be a teacher that has creativity in her room and let my students be them.
I have a one child (for now), she is 6 years old. She is my motivation to be my best. She is a little behind in speech, so she is in speech therapy, but she is catching up fast. She is so smart and witty. She is also very creative and loves to create things like her mama. We always dance and act little scenes where I am the actor and she is the director. It has been awesome to watch her grow as a student and help teach her in her schooling this year.
I need to learn how to incorporate the arts into my classroom as an aide to my instruction. I want to also learn how to make my students, with diverse backgrounds, comfortable in my classroom.
The teacher that I would like to become is a teacher that is knowledgeable and supportive. I want to be a teacher where my students are excited to see me and want to keep that excitement throughout their school career. I want to be the teacher that keeps her students safe, no matter what, but also let them be themselves even if it is through the arts.
