Hello, My name is Nijeeia Farland. I am 19 years old, and I am currently a sophomore attending Old Dominion University. I am an Elementary Education major with plans of teaching 3rd, 4th or 5th graders. I was born in Petersburg, Virginia but raised in Roanoke, Virginia. I grew up with my mother, father, older sister, and little brother. I am a middle child and also being a first generation college student. Growing up education was one of the most important things my parents and grandparents implemented into my siblings and I. I am a very laid back person who loves music, reading, drawing, and writing poetry.
I know that no matter how old I am, I will never stop learning. Learning is a big part of all of our lives and as long as we live their will always be something we need to learn! I know that the children are our future and that as educators we are the ones to let them know how much of a difference they can make in this world.
I have to learn how to create lesson plans that can keep my students engaged and having a good time. I need to learn how to manage my time so that I can have all my things done in a timely manner. I have to learn how to make sure include all different learning styles to make sure I can accommodate all my students. I have to learn that it is okay that I am still learning while my students are also learning.
I will become the teacher that supports my students all around. I will support my students not only in academics but also allowing them to feel comfortable with coming to me about other issues. A lot of students come from different backgrounds and home situations, being able to understand that and be there for them will allow me to make sure I can accommodate them in helping the succeed in school and life. I will become the teacher that not only motivates students in the class room but also support them and their families with home situations.
The people that are shown on this slide show are my biggest inspirations, fans, motivators, the list goes on. These are the people that motivated me, push me to follow my dreams, continue my education, and support me along my journey. Without these people in my life not only would I not be where I am today, I would not have the work ethic or have become the person I am today.
Comments: Hi Great page and I loved your use of imagery. -Keionna Ellis
Comments: I also want my students to feel like they could talk to me about their issues. I feel as though a student to teacher relationship is important to their social development as well as them being engaged in the classroom. I hope that you will be a great teacher and that your students will value your lessons and time. -Noah Austin
