I'm a future art educator, wife, stepmama, mom, & US Navy Veteran. I am transitioning from a 10-year career in multimedia production and public relations to follow my dream of mentoring tomorrow's leaders in an inclusive, stress-free art classroom.
Creativity, mindfulness, and play are paramount for developing children. Art classrooms & their teachers have a great responsibility in promoting open-ended discovery, critical thinking skills, and interpersonal communication.
I would like to explore classroom management techniques, learn about grading philosophies, and how to best write and organize lesson plans. I think it is also important for me to learn how the recent COVID-19 pandemic has transformed education, and any tools or skills which might help me best reach my students.
I will be the teacher who maintains a peaceful workspace for my students to express themselves, find acceptance, and challenges each student to carve out a little time every single day to create. I will encourage students to do their best individually, as well as be respectful, productive members of a community. I will provide thoughtful feedback and support each student on their respective journeys into adulthood. I will incorporate mindfulness into my classroom at every opportunity.
Watch "Bite-Sized Mindfulness" to learn more about the practice & understand how beneficial it can be for students of all ages!
